“In Newquay ? Bounce into Barrowfield !”

We stayed at the Barrowfield Hotel four nights in late July. The food was great and the waiting staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient. Reception were also helpful and perpetually cheerful. The bar staff also went out of their way to provide excellent service whilst we enjoyed the first rate entertainment. Our room was well decorated, fresh and clean, with a comfortable bed and the housekeeper was diligent and helpful. A very pleasant and well ordered hotel.

Room Tip: 2nd floor even numbers seem to be good and not too noisy although seagulls made a commotion on odd o...

Room on the 3rd floor which was small but clean. lack of sockets (1 socket) so if TV on no other appliance could be put on charge or be used. Requested a socket adaptor which reception provided to charge phones/tablets/cameras etc. No air con in room so had window open wide continually no fans left at reception all been loaned out by other guests. Pool enjoyable but only 1 changing area which could be a nuisance if more than 1 person at a time chose to come out the pool. Dining arrangements we found very annoying as everyone eats at the same time. This meant queuing at 8 .30 outside dining room until the doors were opened then queuing again for cereals etc not the nicest way to start the day. Break-fast was adequate but little variety. Dinner 6.30 which we found a little early and felt the hotel could have organised 2 sittings so if you went out you could return a little later to eat without compromising the organisation for evening entertainment. Felt like a fuelling exercise rather than a social event. Food was ok nothing exceptional nor anything to complain about. Hotel well situated for nice walks and easy access to buses etc. We travelled easily to the Eden Project by public transport. Wi fi supposedly available in public area not in rooms which is a pain and was not available frequently in public areas even after the receptionist tried to resolve this for me by refreshing the system. Hotel staff without exception were friendly and helpful and overall the stay was enjoyable.

Myself , a friend and 4 children stayed 26th July for 5 nights travelling from nottingham on the coach. I'd read some of the reviews prior to going and was a bit nervous about the visit. I'm a bit fussy and normally holiday in 4star hotels. I can honestly say it was was a really lovely stay , the hotel is a bit dated and the clientele were a lot older than us but we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The staff were excellent , great with the kids who loved the entertainment and bingo ( there were only a handful of children in the hotel but the staff made them feel welcome) this also meant they had the pool and the pool room to themselves. The food was great and the kids ate the same as the adults ( roast beef, pork , fish , pie etc with veg and pots every night) which made a change from the nuggets and chips ( which was also on the menu if your children are a bit fussy). There was a choice of 3 starters , 3 mains plus vegetarian option every night. The hotel itself is about a 10 min walk from the edge of town . The nearest beach is tolcarne which is just a few mins walk. This has the surf hire, toilets , ice cream venue etc. If you do go there you must visit the brakes - excellent stylish food and venue. All in all a great stay.

We had yet another fantastic holiday at the Barrowfield Hotel Newquay in July 2014. The hotel is situated very near to Tolcarne beach and an easy walk into the town. It takes about 15 minutes. This is our 8th time we have stayed there. This time we did a self drive but in February we came on the coach. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and a good choice of menu. The service is the restaurant was excellent. The entertainment most nights was good. We had a four poster bed as we were celebrating our ruby anniversary and a corner bath with a jacuzzi. The only slight problem was the very noisy seagulls outside however this did not spoil our stay there and we will defiantly be going back there again next year.

Room Tip: Don't have a room over the pool in the summer it will be very warm but they are fantastic in the...

We have visited the Barrowfield once before, and this time the stay was even more enjoyable in the summer months, because of the superb position of the Barrowfield near the cliff top, overlooking the beaches. The food and entertainment were to the usual Daish's high standard. The bedroom had obviously recently been refurbished, and was very comfortable. The local bus stops were very convenient, we only went on one excursion to Falmouth and the Cyder Farm, which were most informative. Looking forward to a future visit.
