“FIRST IMPRESSIONS”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

We could only stay for one night so the review is of those first impressions. We had the last room available in the hotel which in early March says it all! A very attractive modern light and airy decor throughout which gives a great start. Of particular note was the attentive service and customer care by all staff especially in the restaurant with fantastic food at dinner and an excellent breakfast choice. Although we had the last available room, which was in the adjoining coach house, the room itself was excellent. Downsides? being very picky, an uninspiring view from the room and a duvet cover which seemed like rough canvas! Also, the hotel on approach appears surrounded by cars but I understand there is very little that can be done about this.
We can't wait to go back, especially in summer to enjoy the hotel and all that the bay offers!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms

We enjoyed a "taste of the bay" experience at this hotel for the second time. We were with two other couples who have also stayed here before.
The offer is good value and the food excellent. However yo should be aware that the hotel is aiming at the family market as well and there were a large number of preschool children staying. Whilst well behaved, children do create an environment not totally conducive to peace and relaxation! There is a special "tea time" for them, which means a quieter dinner, but breakfast does get hectic unless you arrive early. The pool and lounges can also be less than enjoyable if you want to relax and enjoy the views.

We stayed for three nights on the 10th of march. We have just returned from a fab stay, we had a ocean room no 126 very spacious with a seperate bath and shower, the bathroom did smell a little damp but was still very clean, the bed was king size it was alittle uncomfortable it had a few lumps and the pillows were quite hard. Apart from those little grips we still had a wonderfull time. Would stay again and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: We had a ocean room.

I spent a lovely weekend at Watergate Bay Hotel with my partner and her parents. From the second we arrived Joseph and his team took great care of us. The hotel is bright, airy and most importantly relaxing! We stayed in rooms 114 and 115 which are large and spacious Ocean View Rooms with all the normal mod cons.

There are two great lounges, again with sea views, which provide the perfect opportunity to unwind with a drink and good book in hand.

We ate at the Beach House on our first night which was very good and reasonably priced. On the second night we dined in the restaurant which was included with our Secret Escapes deal and the food was even better. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant is also superb and freshly prepared.

The pool and gym area is very clean and modern. First thing and last thing is adult’s only which is a nice touch. My only minor gripe is this same policy is not applied to the restaurant on an evening as we had to endure a screaming newborn whilst having dinner at 20.00. The hotel is dog and family friendly and the beach is a mere stroll away. Padstow and Newquay airport are only a short drive too.

Cannot wait to return!

From booking to checking in and thenthrough a weekend of great food and service - I can't recommend the Watergate Bay Hotel enough - they were excellent. Any negatives? not really - the bathroom could have done with a shelf near the mirror but really - that's just me being picky!

Room Tip: We even took the dog - but you have to reserve a dog friendly room before hand!

We have just got back from a long weekend with lots of family members and wish we could return. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome.
The new bedrooms are fabulous - we had a family room in the coach house, which includes a super king sized bed in a large room that had wardrobes, tea and coffee facilities, ironing board and iron, hair dryer, ipod docking speaker, TV with DVD player. The bathroom had a lovely bath with over head larger shower (with fabulous smelling soap, hand moisturiser, shampoos and conditioner). The children's room had a bunk bed, their own TV and DVD player and drawers. The other family with us had three children and the additional bedroom had a bunk and single. The other family had a new born and infant, they set up a travel cot and gave an additional bed room for the infant.
During the evenings the children had dinner in the restaurant (early children's dinner session), big ones played in the games room (£10 deposit for controls, ping pong bat and ball, DVDs, pool table use and more). The little ones (4-7 years) while the little ones were looked after in the fabulous well equipped play room (two colourful room with games, dressing up, play corner, arts and crafts and an out door play area run by wonderful friendly staff). I could not understand the need to for two phones in each of the bedrooms, but come the we used the listening service: take the phone off the hook and then reception will link another phone up to it so you can listen (to your children sleeping!).
The swimming pool is fabulous and they have thought of every aspect of going swimming, from seated areas next to the pool, lockers that require no change, costume dryers, towels to beautiful changing rooms. The swimming pool bar/coffee lounge has the most amazing views of Watergate bay beach, comfy sofas and newspapers galore.
We didnt have a treatment but people who I spoke with who had used this facility raved about it. I do think I will have to do this next time!
The evening meals were lovely, although had a very limited selection for vegetarians (the chief was very accommodating though).
Overall it was a fabulous way for all of our family to meet up and enjoy time together and be a family and relaxed adults.

Room Tip: We all had rooms in the coach house. They do not have a sea view but are well equipped and light...

Just returning from 4nigjts at this hotel. It's our first British holiday and only came about as we had to cancel an overseas holiday as my son was not allowed to fly due to illness.

Lovely newly refurbished decor we had a room overlooking the bay and the view is beautiful, although luxurious it's in a homely and relaxing way - wondering round in your socks did not feel out of place!

Food fantastic - we did the 'taste of the bay' offer and it was well worth the money. Dinner at fifteen was lovely.

Pool cardio room (don't expect a full gym) spa and chill out areas great with amazing views over the bay.

We had our 10 month old son with us and nothing was a problem - we had access to the parent kitchen with fridge freezer and microwave. Children's tea was at 5pm so he could sit and eat his dinner properly. There is. Kiss zone which we didn't use but would if we went again.

All the atff were friendly and welcoming and loved chatting with our son

I don't think we'd go in the summer due to both price and how busy the area would be but it's great for an off season Break

This hotel should be number 1 in newquay not The Sands which admittedly we only drove past but was an ugly orange square building a fair distance from the sea not on the beach like waterhate bay

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 21 are the sea view suites and are beautiful with your own seating area looking out over...
