Its hard to imagine being in Cornwall and pouring with rain and still thoroughly enjoying the experience.
The location the Hotel the food the whole experience is absolutely top notch. This is the second time and weve just booked again for next year. Faultless.

Room Tip: Room 1 is stunning but all the rooms are excellent. Depends on what you want to spend and what your...

The hotel has a lovely relaxed ambience about it, pleasant smiling and helpful staff, and while it has an informal air, things are done properly.
The rooms are well appointed and very clean. We ate lunch in the Beach hut which was faultless, and dinner in the hotel, which wasn't. Although there were problems, the staff owned up to the fact quickly, tried to get everything back on track quickly and were generous in their compensation! Not the usual deadpan denials!!
I will definately go again.

Room Tip: If you want wi-fi access you need a room at the front!

Stayed here for the first week of our holiday in Cornwall. Husband, myself and three kids aged 14, 13 & 11. Unfortunately my son is severely asthmatic so we had to stay in rooms which hadn't had dogs in them. The inter-connecting were very small, it did actually become a bit of an issue as we had paid alot of money to stay at the hotel and didn't feel we had got value for money. My three children shared one room and had to take turns on a put you up which was incredibly uncomfortable. The hotel itself was lovely and very relaxing indeed. The weather was not kind to us and my kids did become a little bored as there isn't really anything for teenagers who think that they are really cool. The food in both restaurants was very good indeed. The young staff all very attentive and helpful. A lovely place to stay for a long weekend. The only criticism I would have is that the breakfast room should be cleaned up on a constant basis given that small children end up dropping a great deal of food on the floor!

We have recently returned from an extremely relaxing 3 night break at the Watergate Bay Hotel. I had high expectations of the hotel based on the reviews on trip advisor and also the claims on the website, I had been wanting to visit for years and it didn't disappoint.

The atmosphere is so chilled which is exactly what we wanted. The staff are very attentive and efficient without being in your face at all which suits the vibe of the whole place.

We didn't have the best weather but that didn't bother us at all as there was still enough to offer and fill our time - mainly eating, drinking (excellent cocktails), reading, walking, swimming, relaxing - oh and a bit of surfing!! There is so many places to sit and chill, read, chat, enjoy the views and they are the sort of views that you can't easily tire of!

The food was excellent, breakfast are done really nicely with a selection of everything that you could want - I just wished they would have put labels on the fruit juices (that's me being picky)! For lunch and dinner we ate in the Beach Hut restaurant and the Living Space and this is good hearty food done really well - we thought about trying Fifteen but we just preferred the relaxed dining environments and more rustic food.

What this hotel does really well is offer lots of facilities and services without any hassle at all - you can charge everything to your room even when you're 'outside' of the hotel at the Beach Hut Restaurant or Extreme Academy.

If you haven't got children then this might not necessarily be the place for a seriously romantic getaway as there are lots of families with young children about - we didn't mind too much as we had left our 2 year old daughter at home with the Grandparents but had we been here before having children it may have bothered us more. I think we will definitely be going back with our daughter at some point as the hotel caters extremely well for children from what we saw.

Finally our room - we were in the ocean wing in a standard room which wasn't particularly small even though I had expected it to be. Everything was really nicely done, cosy, comfy and luxurious with an amazing view of the bay, bathrooms were lovely too. My only thought was that perhaps considering the cost of the rooms that a little bit more could be provided for guests - such as bottled water, hot chocolate and biscuits on the drinks tray; fresh flowers in the room; slippers for cosiness!

Overall this is a great hotel with a wonderful ambience in a perfect location.

Room Tip: If you can only afford a standard room - go for an upstairs ocean view one - we had 133 and the view...

Back from another wonderful stay here. A great place to kick back and relax, enjoy the views or paddle in the sea with the dog. A mid week break across three generations and a dog you would think there would be a few problems, but everyone was happy. The humans all enjoyed their treatments at the spa, food, drinks and it created a great base for some exploring when we wanted to do a little more. The dog Harvey loved the walks, swimming in the sea, being fussed over and us being able to take food scraps from our breakfast back as a treat.

All in all a great success, thanks for making our break great fun and doing it with such friendly staff who were always happy to help. We'll be back

Room Tip: If you're taking your dog, ask for a balcony room it will give you a little more freedom for the...

A great family hotel. Lovely staff and fellow guests. Our extended family has been here many times over the years and it seems to be getting better and better every time we stay. Very friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel, particularly front of house. This time, I noticed a real improvement in service - staff straight over to your table as soon as you sit down. Food excellent. Rooms excellent. Pool excellent. Sun terrace excellent. Some minor issues that would turn my review into a 5:

1. If a family is staying with small children then provide a bath mat without guests needing to ask for one - bath is slippery when bathing young children.

2. Also remove the novelty fish plug in the bath and replace with ordinary plug when children are staying - our 15 month and 3 year old kept pulling the plug out - it's like a magnet for them.

3. Sort out the wifi. Very shaky wifi connection. This really should be easy to sort out these days - there are many companies out there that could install a wifi network in the hotel that actually works reliably. Please sort this out.

4. Please advertise the time that the kids club closes in the afternoon and stick to it. First night we were asked to leave a 6.25pm so staff could prepare for the evening session starting at 6.30pm. Second night we were asked to leave at 6pm. But we had planned our kids evening routine based on 6.25pm as per the previous evening. This really needs some clarity and consistency since young children finish eating at 5.30pm and so there is an hour or so for playing in the toy room before bath and bed. Since we were asked to leave at 6pm, we then had to take our annoyed and upset toddler into the bar area until it was time for bed. Not good for us or our fellow guests. If we were allowed to stay until 6.25pm, then we would have then gone straight back to our room for bath and bed.

We stayed over a weekend with our family of 11 adults and children which had gathered for a reunion from different parts of the world. The staff and their service was excellent. There was a wedding on the Sunday which spilled into the bar and dining area but there was no disruption of service for us. The facilities for children are excellent. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 112 which was away from the family rooms so would assume it was quieter early in t...
