This was an excellent day - perfect view at the front on the deck - staff were superb, friendly, chatty, helpful. I didn't think it was possible to consume that amount of champagne in 12 hours but hell we managed it. The Pink stuff started at 2.30 with a lovely afternoon tea to follow, and then champagne just kept coming and coming, the evening meal was OK but to be honest didn't need to each much, then the music started - an excellent start with October rocks lovely voice - the main event then kicked of with DJ billion - one word "Amazing" the champagne kept coming - had to retire at midnight to a superbly comfortable bed ( slept well) excellent breakfast, lovely swim and then a massage. then over the road to Fifteen for lunch. The whole 24 hrs were worth every penny. we will be back next year.

Room Tip: try and get a sea view

Having stayed here when our family were younger years ago I cannot rate this hotel high enough. We visited for Polo on the beach and yes the tickets were expensive at £120 each. we had a delicious afternoon tea and food in the evening. Champagne flowed freely in the evening but only one glass was offered on arrival at 2.30 until 7pm (probably just as well!) We stayed on the last moment and although not cheap the room was delightful with crisp clean sheets and a beautiful sea view. Breakfast was delicious and staff from the events team to the bar staff to the breakfast staff were all professional yet friendly and approachable too. Thank you so much. A lovely treat and hope we can come again next year

Couldn't recommend this enough! We stayed at the hotel on the Saturday night and bought tickets for the polo house party . We knew what to expect as the emails before arrival laid out the running of the day . The food was delicious both in the afternoon and evening and we have never seen champagne flow so freely in the evening ! The staff where brilliant friendly and fun and we will be booking again for next year and will be bringing 6 more friends with us !!

Some good friends suggested that we join them this year at the Veuve Clicquot Polo day at the Watergate Hotel. Tickets were about £120 each. It was the worst organised event that we had ever attended. At £120 per ticket, you don't expect to have to buy your own drinks. Apparently last year it ran like a proper event. It appeared that there was one, warm, flat glass of champagne that had been standing for at least 15 mins at about 2.30 then nothing until the evening. We complained about the state of the drink and they did bring a bottle out with fresh glass's.There were food issues too. I could go on and on about how poor this event was but there's no point. They weren't interested at the time and I doubt they care a jot now. Well done whoever the event manager is, you just lost 10 local people in returning to any future event you put on.

Room Tip: I'm only commenting on an event the hotel put on, not the quality of the rooms.

Watergate Bay proved a great place for a one night beach break. Slightly disappointing room, small and didn't feel as luxurious as the rest of the hotel but the swim club and beautiful ocean room lounge more than made up for it. Friendly and helpful staff and a truly relaxing stay.

An informal, light and airy hotel where you follow the sandprints to your room. Great places to sit and look over the bay, especially the Ocean View room whose contemporary style and comfy sofas were great to snuggle down in. Our room was spacious with a comfortable double (well 2 twins together) bed, small balcony overlooking the bay and excellent bath and seperate shower. Staff throughout were superb and a real credit to the hotel. The buffet breakfast was very nice with a lot of choice but our meal in the bar was disappointing with my fish cakes lacking fish and being more of a stodgy potatoe affair. We ate at Fifteen which was lovely but overpriced and struggled to find anywhere else to eat given that the Beavh Hut is also owned by the hotel. There were a lot of dog owners with dogs in the public areas and rooms but they were in the main well behaved and did not cause any problems. Would stay again but hope that the food improves.
