“30 years to Newquay and First Time at Priory Lodge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2012

We have been holidaying in Newquay for over 30 years and have always stayed on Headland Road to be near Fistral Beach. However, due to the demise of the Hotal industry which has been replaced by "luxury appartments" we decided to try elsewhere. Priory Lodge Hotel is one on the friendliest Hotels in Newquay. Fiona and her staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble!

The food was great, the view from our room (room 4) was wonderful and I can't belive I swam in an outdoor pool in the UK! The water was certainly heated! The Hotel is very clean and runs like clockwork! Word of warning - dont play Fiona at golf!! she's very good apparently!!

Will certainly return next year, despite the daily trek up Marcus Hill, still it helped to work off the enormous breakfasts!! Should be rated more than two stars!!

The only reason we booked 'The Priory Lodge Hotel' was down to the trip advisor reviews, it certainly lived up to its reviews!

From entering the hotel to the time we left Fiona & her staff made us welcome.
The simple things like showing us around the hotel to taking us to our room are FIVE STAR STANDARD! You don't get that in any Travelodge’s or Premier Inns.

Although the room was a bit dated it served its purpose very well. What do you need in a room apart from a comfortable bed, shower & coffee making facilities.

The room had a patio door which leads out into a very well kept grounds with a heated swimming pool what more can you ask for in hotel in Newquay at a very reasonable price..

We did have one small problem during our stay, however Fiona resolved this very quickly & could not apologise more than she did.

If & when we do return to Newquay we will only be stopping at the Priory Lodge Hotel.. If we can book there - we wanted to stay one more night but they were fully booked! Now that says it all..!

Thank-you Fiona & staff for making our time in Newquay a pleasant one!

Room Tip: Any room with a rear view that either looks over the bay or backs onto the garden.

This place is just brilliant, Fiona and her team are like a well oiled machine and work very hard to make sure everyone has the best stay possible. The food is fantastic and all prepared from fresh ingrediants from the Hotels kitchen, there is entertainment most nights in a seperate entertainment room. The Hotel is a five minute walk from the town and beach, so no parking fees. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and our room had a fantastic sea view. Already booked for next year, checking out was like saying goodbye to family or close friends!!!

Room Tip: Some rooms have sea views and balcony, worth the extra cost

Our family have just returned from staying at the Priory Lodge for the 5th consecutive year, yet again nothing was too much trouble for Fiona & her staff Food as usual was of the highest order - as previously mentioned - DO NOT MISS THE STEAK & ALE PIE!!!!! - rooms are clean and comfortable, we had a balcony with great sea view. Entertainment is good - particularly the Cornish Bingo and Fionas renowned singing which seems to improve after numerous trips to the bar!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies have great sea views

We booked a four night stay here based on all the other reviews on Trip Advisor.

The location of the hotel is very good with just enough parking for all the guests (the hotel was full when we stayed). It is only 5-10 minutes to walk to town but was also quiet (we did have a room at the back however so the rooms at the front may be a little more noisy).

The owners really try extremely hard you make your stay enjoyable with entertainment in the bar every night and friendly staff. We had a family room by the pool which was £135/night for two adults and two small children for B&B, which seemed a bit expensive to us. Whilst some elements of the room had been updated (eg a flat screen TV), it felt rather tired and not really what you would expect for the price. The fitted furniture in particular was very 70's with worn out work tops and a drawer unit with the face of one drawer missing. The wall tiles and fittings in the bathroom were modern, and so the impression of being tired (perhaps also a significant element in the bedroom) was as a result of the dim lighting and the very old floor tiles. Although the curtains were fairly new, they weren't lined so it is very light in the room early in the morning. The mattress was rather hard and lumpy.

We have just returned home after a week spent at the Priory Lodge Hotel. We had a fantastic holiday, made very welcome by Fiona and her staff. The hotel is excellent, in brilliant surroundings, very very clean and the food was fantastic with a great choice to choose from each day. The entertainment was brilliant, Fiona was excellent host at the Cornish Bingo. Would definately recommend this hotel and worth a 4 or a 5. when we come down to Newquay we will be staying here again. Thanks Fiona for a lovely holiday, one we all will never forget.
