Went here last weekend, 2 small cokes, 1 pint lemonade and a bottle of Peroni £10.30! I said we had been overcharged but hadn't, all soft drinks were flat. To the owner you should be ashamed of yourself no wonder your number 92 out of 109, doubt it will be long before you get the 109 spot. Loved the bed bugs picture by the way!

Hello, very sorry to hear that you were unhappy about our drinks prices. They are standard Hotel prices with a fantastic location. As far as the soft drinks being flat, I am sure if it was mentioned to our bar staff, they would have taken action. as far as the bedbugs please note that the picture was not taken in a property belonging to the Glendorgal Hotel., but as the customer stayed within a privately owned & let property within the complex and has therefore nothing whatsoever to do with the Glendorgal Hotel. As a Hotel, we will offer you the same drinks again free of charge. I think most people would find that reasonable. Sincerely

We just wanted to say the biggest thank you possible to Hilde and all the staff at the Glendorgal Hotel for making our wedding day the most perfect that anyone could wish for. Atmosphere, food, friendliness, service & all round quality was 5*

As many reviews here seem to reflect, the service at this hotel is low. Consequently this has a great knock on affect to cleanliness and general hotel maintenance. Some hotels are made great by staff who will always put in the most effort for each guest to ensure every visitor has their own best experience. Staff at Glendorgal really give guests the very least of their effort, care or interest. So while you may be on holiday, expect to be sorely reminded of how the staff here are very much "at work" (doing a job they clearly do not like). We were clearly promised the potential of breakfast as late as 9/9:30 AM (from a member of staff who would also ask the chef to retain a couple of modest sausages for us should we arrive late). We arrived at 9:32 AM the following morning, only to be laughed at by another member of staff for asking for a cooked breakfast (laughter of which was echoed by the chef from the back of the kitchen when asked had he kept any food back for us). Instead this impertinent employee offered us "bread" (the seagulls outside had enjoyed a more nutritional breakfast by that point). Clearly the communication between staff is non-existent yet it is no better to guests either. We had been assured of a peaceful night sleep, -which is entirely untrue as it is impossible at any time to be undisturbed due to the hotel room doors that require a huge clunk before being able to lock properly (along with noisy air conditioning units that exist just outside the balconies). The stars awarded to this hotel are entirely unwarranted with rooms that suffer from scuffed decor, broken hinged cupboards, carpets that need a deep clean or outright replacement along with a few other odd eyesores thrown in. For example, we might have enjoyed a stunning view had it not been for a manky discarded and very dirty looking towling slipper that was left on a flat roof in front of the balcony. But details like this at the last thing to get any attention from the core negative attitude and dismal professional pride of the staff. The hotel and rooms are also steeped in a rather sickly unpleasant odour (the closest description of which might be too offensive to post online). I also concur with so many other reviews written about this sub standard hotel that pricing is utterly outrageous given such a poorly product and contemptible complacent service. You will very easily find both greater quality and better value just about anywhere else but Glendorgal.

My wife & I stayed for a weekend, we had a plesent & relaxing stay. The views from the hotel are stuning & the hotel rooms were comfortable. We ate in the restaurant at breakfast & a dinner, on all occassions we had a good meal.
The problem was the waiting staff, empty tables left with dirty plates throughout our entire meal & less than attentive staff. Our meal was left waiting at the service counter getting cold whilst both of the waiters stood at the bar watching the football! This place seriously needs direction from management & it could be a really good hotel. I would stay here again if in newquay but I would probably eat out, no critisim of the chef though, it was really good food.

Room Tip: Have a sea view, its the selling point of the hotel.

We stayed for a week for a family wedding in a self catering house, originally we were put in the wrong house with not enough bedrooms, we were moved straight away although the new house was clearly double booked as we found out when the new guests came knocking on our door 5 days into the holiday!!
The bride and groom had organised a pre wedding meal the night before the wedding in the restaurant, unfortunately the kitchen clearly could not cope we were offered a very limited menu which consisted of fish and chips or burger and chips, when they food arrived it was cold and unedible, which was such a shame.
Unfortunately the service and food standards continued throughout the wedding....
You are told you get a discount in the hotel for food and beverages, however this is never offered, the swimming pool was closed the whole time we were there, no discount or even an apology.
The location and views are stunning but the lack of care and customer service lets this hotel down greatly.

Was told 24 hours before due to arrive to sort final bits to my daughters wedding to be told that the self catering accommodation that I booked 15 months previously had been sold!! Offered another property which was condemned due to electric failure. Offered a room in the hotel accepted under duress. Bridal party had to get ready separately throughout the complex. Met with the owner to discuss the situation offered a full refund. after several attempts of communication still no further forward.
Food was poor quality and expensive.
One member of staff had to go to the shop to get more coca cola because they ran out.
Not enough staff on shift to service the function.
The toilets were blocked up all evening and I had to take wedding guests to my hotel room for them to use the facilities.
Management are ignorant!!
Made several phone calls and sent recorded letters with no response to date.
The rooms themselves were basic for the cost.
Would not recommend!

I travelled with a crowd of girlfriends for a friends 30th birthday. We hadn't been to Cornwall before and having been looked after so excellently by the staff at the Glendorgal Hotel we are already planning to go back.
The hotel is charming, warm, friendly and the staff extremely welcoming. I, unfortunately, booked too late for a room with sea view but I visited the rooms of some of my friends and the view is spectacular. My room was perfectly fine, spotlessly clean with everything you would want, including tea/coffee making facilities, except for the fabulous view! The hotel is very well situated for walking to a variety of surrounding beaches. Our weekend in the Glendorgal was so easy and stress free (except for the negotiation of the one-way system in Newquay!) that we plan to return next year to do the same again.
