“Perfect wedding venue in breathtaking location”
Reviewed 18 April 2010

We held our wedding here in Dec 2009 and the whole thing was just perfect. The majority of the party stayed for 3 days in the luxurious self catering apartments and houses which were fab - with welcome use of the leisure facilities and spa. The hotel staff were excellent, special thanks to Brock, Penny & Steph - very helpful and friendly - and our wedding day went without a hitch. Nothing was too much trouble - we received 5 star service without the stuffiness! Many guests said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to! We also stayed an extra night alone and enjoyed a beautiful meal in the restaurant. Beautiful place, breathtaking views, fabulous venue - wish we could do it all again! :-)

On the positive side our room was large, nicely furnished and had ensuite bathroom with walk in shower. The staff were friendly and the breakfasts were served in the conservatory overlooking Porth bay which was lovely. The food was tasty and a nice selection. It is not all that far to walk down to the beach to take a walk. The bar was nice and the staff there friendly and helpful.
Not so pleasant was the fact that the price is not all that reasonable and the full charge is taken off your credit card at the time of booking with no refund what so ever should you not be able to go. While the room was clean, the patio had not been swept and our "land view" was a wall with cigarette butts, an empty cigarette packet and garden rubbish. Our room was also directly below the stairs to the upper rooms and I was woken several times late into the night and the early morning but people walking up and down the very creaky stairs. The bar did not open until after six so we could not go and sit in the conservatory in the day with a tea or coffee should we wish, which was a shame considering the lovely view and on the second evening there was a wedding on and the bar was not available to hotel guests, we were not pre warned of this and there is not really anywhere else nearby to walk to for entertainment. We were visiting family a couple of miles away so luckily it did not put us out but I would not of liked to of been there for a week considering all this. So really it depends what you are visting Newquay for wether or not this hotel would suit you.

This is a great location for a business person to relax after work, entertain clients and just feel at home. The staff really made me feel relaxed and the health club was a great way to unwind before a great meal.

My boyfriend and I wanted somewhere to get away to for New Year and couldn't have hoped for a lovelier place.

The hotel its was wonderful with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the location is absolutely breathtaking.

The only downside was the restaurant which was overpriced, minimal selection and they messed up our order. To be fair we weren't expected to pay for it and was given a free drink but it did put a slight downside on the evening.

Lovely staff
This hotel makes a good base at reasonable cost but is not really the place for a spa type experince
Pluses:
Great views
Generally quiet despite a wedding being on
easy to walk to town
Good gym equipment in pleasant room
But against:
Steam and sauna tired and not working well....drafty steam room!! No gym towels so soaking wet room ones despite asking for ones for gym. sauna etc.
Pool windowless and noisy
Room too hot - even with radiator off it gave out some heat, TV system crackly and cheap..also paint work needs some updating
breakfast well cooked but poor quality ingredients let it down

From the moment we arrived till the time we left (3 day stay) we were treated like family and nothing was too much trouble. The reception staff were very friendly without being OTT to make you think they we just acting. The cleaning staff were so easy to talk to and not to sound bad but all spoke and were english.

The food in the resturant was wonderful and the entire atmospher was like being in a home away from home...just perfect!
