“Be careful what you read in 'Coast' magazine about the Whipsiderry Hotel Newquay as it could be a major disappointment to you”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2012

We were lead to believe by the advert in the July edition of 'Coast' magazine that this hotel had 'breathtaking views' of Porth beach and bay. Most of the panorama from the hotel is of housing estates.
Beware, as this hotel sounds like it is standing alone on rolling cliffs overlooking the sea and beaches. Not so.
Also beware of the rooms as you may get a double which you can only just about squeeze yourself around. Also the floor may well be covered in dog hair, as we found to our horror when we took off our black socks.
The food is also rather uninspiring, unless you like The sort of stuff that comes with Bistow gravy.
However, the staff were lovely and friendly.

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable week's stay which was our first visit but will not be our last! Lisa & Andy are very "hands-on" owners & are pleased to accommodate guests to their specific requirements, as we found on our stay when they kindly went out of their to help us at short notice during a busy week in their calendar.

The hotel enjoys an excellent, elevated location with superb views, very close to wonderful beaches & delightful cliff walks. The hotel provides excellent cuisine (Rob, the chef, has been here 15 years). Quality of service & guest comfort is given a high priority. There are comfortable lounges in which to relax, delighful gardens where you can sit out & enjoy the excellent views & additionally, a nice, sheltered outdoor (heated) pool area with sun loungers & tables where you can enjoy the sun & have lunch or snacks. Safe, spacious car parking is a bonus.

We met a number of couples who had returned to Whipsiderry over many years & this provides testimony to the warm, friendly & fun atmosphere which Lisa & Andy have created here. Nothing is too much trouble & all their staff are friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms have best perspective

Excellent corner room with sea views. Exceptional breakfast and 6-course dinner. Relaxed and entertaining atmosphere. Lisa and Andy were, as usual, very welcoming. Excellent bingo night at the weekend.

This was one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed at nothing was too much trouble for Lisa & Andy. It was very good value for money and watching the Badgers was the icing on the cake! I would certainly recommend it to anyone. Thank-you

From the moment we arrived and shown to our rooms,we knew it was going to be a wonderful stay, and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel welcome straight away with tea and biscuits after our long journey.
The rooms were comfortable with TV ,tea and coffee making facilities available.
Our room had a lovely sea view, overlooking the hotel gardens and porth beach.
The meals were excellent ,delivered hot to the table, with several choices, chef Rob catering for every need including extra sauces and gravy if wanted.
The desserts were mouthwatering delicious, all home cooked and generous portions !!
It had a well stocked bar of beer wines and spirits of which we sampled before dining, whilst chatting to other guests many of whom had been before.
The hotel is on a hill with good all round views. An excellent hourly bus service was available to the local area and beyond.
Lisa and Andy are the perfect hosts who went out of their way to make it a wonderful stay
and we shall certainly be back next year.

This was our first visit to the Whipsiderry Hotel but it won't be the last. If you are looking for a warm and friendly welcome then look no further!! We took our grandson Ethan away for his birthday and he is still talking about Lisa and Andy who run the hotel. Absolutely brilliant. The hotel is situated overlooking Porth beach and is set in beautifully tended gardens. Our room was comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities, freeview tv & wifi. The breakfasts were really good and they catered for our very fussy grandson, who amazingly ate loads there!!! We didn't take advantage of the evening restaurant facilities but the other patrons raved about the food and service and we will certainly be eating there on our next visit. It was very enjoyable to spend an hour or so in the bar at the end of the day and watch the wildlife in the garden ( a must see)!! Thanks so much Lisa and Andy for a very happy and memorable weekend. Barry Tina and Ethan.
PS. Andy - Ethan says you need to improve your DS skills lol

Stayed for a couple of nights over a weekend with group of friends. A clean and tidy hotel with excellent lounge and bar areas overlooking Porth beach and the bay.

My double ensuite room, whilst smallish was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food.

The owner and her staff were welcoming, polite and always helpful. All in all a pleasant place to stay that I would happily return to.
