Owner description: Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000 of the world's rare and exciting creatures. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre and world famous surfing beaches, the Zoo is both one of Cornwall's most exciting visitor attractions and a leading conservation charity. It's the only place in Cornwall where you can see lions devour their lunch before taking a leisurely stroll through a tropical rainforest, surrounded by free flying birds. Keeper talks and animal feeds take place throughout the day but if you fancy an even closer animal encounter we offer visitors the chance to meet and feed our cheeky lemurs, friendly penguins and impossibly cute meerkats! See wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala antelope and zebra roaming in our African Savannah and enjoy some familiar faces in The Village Farm - one of our most popular exhibits which includes many children's favourites such as pot-bellied pigs, African pygmy goats, turkeys and striped squirrels. And if all that isn't enough to keep the kids amused, we also have activity trails, face painting, a children's play area, dragon maze...and much more. Besides enjoying a great family day out, when you visit Newquay Zoo you'll also be supporting our vital education, research and conservation work, all designed to protect endangered animals from extinction. We're playing a key role in the international effort to save animals through conservation breeding.

“A lovely little zoo.”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

Spent a relaxing 2 hours wandering around this lovely little zoo. It isn't big, but the animals here are very obviously well looked after. I have posted a pic of the lion - not the best of photos but he is a magnificent creature. A word of warning for all who visit. The lions enclosure is a cage with a second low level fence with approx. 3 foot gap. If the lion decides to mark his area by spraying (which he did twice in 5 minutes) you need to move fast! He sprays straight through both sets of bars and will easily catch you if you are within 6 foot :). Please Gift Aid your entry fee as it helps to support the zoo and the conservation work they do. And it wasn't only the animals who looked happy - the staff were pretty cheerful too! If you go at the start of your holiday you will be able to go back as often as you like in the next 7 days - that's got to be good value for money. Well worth a visit.

“Small zoo, but worth a visit”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

This is a lovely little zoo with a good range of animals that seem happy and well cared for. The zoo keepers provide talks throughout the day which are interesting and enjoyable. There is also a small cafe which is good value for money. My only tiny complaint is that the disabled toilet is very small - could only just shut the door once the wheelchair was inside!

“Small but good selection of animals to see”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

Just visited Newquay Zoo while on holiday with my family and although it is a small zoo they have a good selection of animals.

It was my daughters first visit to a zoo and we had a nice family outing. It is not really a day out as it is small but you can spend a good couple of hours there.

My only complaint was the queue at Tippy's Snack Bar as there was only one lady serving, cooking and making drinks. All credit to her as she remained very happy and apologetic while the queue built up.

Whilst not the biggest zoo I've been to was nice to walk around and relax. Short walk from the main high street. Work a visit and some for an afternoon or morning.

“A little gem”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

We visited this zoo during our recent trip to Newquay. We have been regular visitors of our local zoo Chester and love it. Newquay zoo is a lot smaller and we didn't expect the experience to be as good. We were however proved wrong. Newquay zoo is small but there is plenty to see. The animal enclosures are well thought out and the animals all seemto be well cared for. The young lady who gave the animal talks was a delight to listen too and talks were informative and funny. We spent 4 hrs at the zoo and felt we could have stayed longer.
