Owner description: Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000 of the world's rare and exciting creatures. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre and world famous surfing beaches, the Zoo is both one of Cornwall's most exciting visitor attractions and a leading conservation charity. It's the only place in Cornwall where you can see lions devour their lunch before taking a leisurely stroll through a tropical rainforest, surrounded by free flying birds. Keeper talks and animal feeds take place throughout the day but if you fancy an even closer animal encounter we offer visitors the chance to meet and feed our cheeky lemurs, friendly penguins and impossibly cute meerkats! See wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala antelope and zebra roaming in our African Savannah and enjoy some familiar faces in The Village Farm - one of our most popular exhibits which includes many children's favourites such as pot-bellied pigs, African pygmy goats, turkeys and striped squirrels. And if all that isn't enough to keep the kids amused, we also have activity trails, face painting, a children's play area, dragon maze...and much more. Besides enjoying a great family day out, when you visit Newquay Zoo you'll also be supporting our vital education, research and conservation work, all designed to protect endangered animals from extinction. We're playing a key role in the international effort to save animals through conservation breeding.

“fun day out”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

as a member of Paignton zoo we benefitted from a free visit to the sister zoo at Newquay today.
a compact site in comparison, but an interesting collection and a fun day out with small children. There are some access issues for pushchairs (gravel/ steps/ wood bark).

My son particularly enjoyed the face painting and became a fierce blue tiger for the day. The ladies running the face painting were lovely and patient with my wriggly tickly 3 year old!

“Good standard”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Being zoo lovers me and my wife were pleasantly surprised at the variety of animals especially the rare civet which we hadn't seen anywhere else before. Highlights for us were the lions and penguins. Decent size and good value.

“Great day out”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Great place. We filled a full day by taking our time and fully exploring everything. Food was reasonably priced and good food. Plenty of picnic tables. Kids loved it and so did we.

“Good size, plenty to see”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Good size zoo, good variety of animals. Plenty to see and do. If on holiday, you pay once and can come back for free as much as you like for a week. We found this useful as our daughter nagged to go back and see the lion. We enjoyed watching the playful otters and Maqcues(spelling?). There was a playground and an adventure playground, they had face painting daily. We found the food a bit expensive but they had plenty of picnic areas. Good place to visit with children.
