Just returned from a trip with Alfa to the Eliot Hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Shower was good although not much room. The food was good, hot and tasty with a variety to choose from. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. James, our waiter, was very efficient and quite amusing at times. The main reason for the holiday was to visit the Eden Project, which was excellent and not too far to travel to.
Our driver was, Bob, who was very informative on the area and very helpful, thanks, Bob.
Would recommend this hotel and trip.

5 day coach trip by Alfa to the Eliot Hotel in Newquay which is located just off the seafront , The Hotel is very middle of the road decor wise but the dining room was exceptionally light and airy following a recent upgrade. The Hotel food was really good and our waitress was very pleasant and efficient and was a credit to the Hotel. Our room 121 was on the first floor had no view whatsoever as there was a large water tank sited immediately outside the window which made the room very dark at all times. We experienced a couple of incidents in room 121, firstly the bathroom extraction fan did not switch off when the bathroom light was switched off and secondly the TV proved to be faulty and it took a couple of days to get both the fan and the TV sorted. In this connection the manager did stirling work in getting the faults put right.Alfa took us by coach on 3 seperate occasions. One whole day to visit the Eden Project at St Austell, one day to visit St Ives and a half day trip to Padstow .We enjoyed all three trips which at this time of year was an ideal way to fill the days

Room Tip: avoid room121

We have just returned from a 7 day holiday at the Eliot Hotel with Alfa Travel. Food was excellent with plenty of choice and always served piping hot. The hotel was very clean and our room was adequate, with very comfortable twin beds and a lovely en suite shower room. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Beata, our waitress, was a lovely, pleasant young lady. Yes, the rooms could do with an update but cleanliness is the most important thing. Would certainly recommend this well situated hotel.

Location is great 1 block away from seafront with decent parking for our lovely car! Hotel needs a refurb outside and inside. Seems they have updated the dining room and then stopped! Typical of old fashioned seaside hotels, our room 236 was up many stairs with twists and turns (only for access to reasonably fit guests - lift to 1st floor only) Door number plate was cracked. Our room was small and in the roof space so could bang your head on slopes. Positives were - room was clean with window onto road (no noise). Bed clean and comfortable. Bathroom ok - clean with good power shower (over the bath). Only small portable TV but did have freeview channels. No phone in room (early morning call was knock on door!!). Room ok in general but a refurb would be welcome to get rid of pink anaglypta walls. Breakfast 8 - 9am very early for a Sunday, but was worth getting up for! We paid high b&b rate as it was bank holiday weekend. If it was better value may return as we really enjoyed Newquay and surrounding area.

Room Tip: Request one that is on 1st floor as we had to endure many narrow corridors with low ceilings.
