Stayed at the Sandy Lodge Hotel with David Urquhart Holidays from 9-14Sept 2012. First the only downside of our visit. The room (231) was a bit on the small side. There that's it.
On arrival at the hotel after a very long journey we were welcomed by very friendly staff. As our arrival was after the time dinner was served was expecting sandwiches tea/coffee etc. Not a bit of it we were ushered through to the restaurant and served a delicious meal which did not have a hint of being "kept warm for us"
Due to our late arrival the check in was delayed till after dinner. As we enjoyed our meal luggage was taken to and left outside our room. All we had to do was to collect our keys from reception.
A first class service which we hoped was a sign of things to come.We were not disappointed. The room was, as previously mentioned, was a bit cramped but contained all we needed for a comfortable stay.
All areas of the hotel were kept spotlessly clean by efficient and friendly staff. How refreshing it is to be met with a smile by employees who seem to enjoy their job.
Breakfast was buffet style with all items freshly cooked and looked so tempting. The diet starts after we get home.
Dinner was also of a very good standard and choice. All hot items are served hot and not lukewarm. The choice of desserts is very good with waiter served items and a huge choice of cold items from a help yourself buffet.Forget the diet.
The hotel is a short walk from Newquay centre and is served by local buses .from outside the hotel.A mini road train also stops outside the hotel and provides a hop on hop off tour of the resort.
This is a very pleasant hotel to stay in which I would not hesitate to return to. It just goes to show you do not need 5 stars and pay high prices to enjoy first class service.

We stayed in a family room at Sandy lodge which was very clean and spacious, there is also a gym,spa bath and indoor swimming pool, Sandy lodge is a family owned hotel and all of the staff are very helpful, there is entertainment on every night, the food is excellent, i would whole heartedly recommend a stay here, it is ideally located for Towan beach and either a nice gentle stroll along the seafront to the town centre or catch a local bus from the bus stop no more than 500 yds away, I will certainly be returning again, well done Pete and Kath for making our holiday extremely pleasurable.

Room Tip: family room

We booked a decent deal - 4 nights with breakfast and evening meal for £120 a person, so really good value.

When we first arrived at our room, we were a little disappointed, it certainly did look a little old and in need of sprucing up, but the bathroom did seem fairly new. Could do with a re-paint as there's big marks on the walls etc. But, the place was clean, beds and bathroom were clean, and we were comfortable.

We did have a broken bed, however this was mentioned to management and fixed fairly promptly, which we were happy with.

We didn't have any pre-conceptions on food, for the price we were not expecting too much, but were pleasantly surprised. The service is great, waiters/waitresses were friendly and the food was fairly good, 3 selections each night and multiple pudding selections!

Location was great, about 5 minutes from Tolcarne beach, and 2 mins from the Tesco.

Good staff, good food, good location - maybe just needs a little TLC in the rooms.

But don't let this put you off, it's a good place for a few nights stay, we would return for another short break and had a good time.

my wife and i have just recently returned from newquay and stayed in sandy lodge hotel we arrived late at night and dinner was ready on our arlsrival.the staff could not have been any y friendlier from our first day to last day The meals were excellent with plenty of choices and if we had any complaints it would be that the room we had was a bit dated and the en suite was in need of a 2012 look or perhaps at least a lick of paint.Gerry and Donna henderson in Stenhousemuir

Room Tip: The room we had was very spacious

In June 2012 my wife and I went on 4 night coach break with Nova Tours Travel, to The Sandy Beach Hotel in Newquay. The hotel is situated very near the sea front.. The hotel has a good sized dining room ,which has a comprehensive self service menu for breakfast and a waiter service for dinner, with a good choice of excellently cooked a food , to suit all tastes. The bedrooms are well presented , have showers ,toilets , televisions and tea making facilities. There are also large screen television viewing lounges and a large entertainment lounge, with a well stocked bar, selling various drinks , at reasonable prices.
Good entertainment was provided every night , along with a few houses of bingo. The hotel was full with people who had previously stayed there and we would definitely stay there again. The hotel is clean, has a very pleasant atmosphere and all the staff are very friendly and helpful .
A very pleasant, good value for money five days break , well organised by Nova Tours Travel. If you want to go to Newquay, you will not be disapointed with this hotel, or the tour operator.

Room Tip: A steady 10 minutes walk into the town centre
