“Hard to fault”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

The Carnmarth overlooks Fistral beach. It's within walking distance of most of Newquay's attractions (harbour etc) but it offers plenty to keep you on site. The bar's terrace has great views and is perfectly placed for sun late into the evening. Food is really good. Service is ecellent...staff really couldn't do enough for us.
Breakfast selection was a bit limited but was fine.
My room on the second floor was clean, very bright and airy with white walls apart from a picture wall behind the bed (coastal scene).
There is car parking.
Pricing was reasonable....really, there's nothing negative to say. I would go back in a flash.

Event in the marque was excellent - buffet food was good, service excellent. Bedroom was small but fit for purpose with nice décor - great views and sky light that let loads of light in. Shower room was a bit dark and showing signs of wear. Will be recommending to friends and family.

Good venue, great location, nice balcony overlooking the golf course and sea. Friendly staff, stayed in family room which was large and liked by all with sea views. Bath and shower a little dated, but everywhere very clean. Would recommend for a wedding reception.

Myself and my partner recently visited the hotel for a wedding. In terms of the function itself, the staff and venue were superb, no complaints. The problem however is that the parking is inadequate. I parked in the last space outside the hotel and was confronted by a rather rude manager (I presume) who told me I couldn't park there and gave me chapter and verse on the reasons. I ended up walking for a long way to find a pay and display.

Just returned from two nights at the Carnmarth, I booked this hotel due to its location next to Newquay Activity Centre. It fitted the bill perfectly as I was able to dump the car and wallet for two days whilst I enjoyed a Training Camp at Rob Barbers Bodyboard School. There is very nice Terrace for a drink and meal if you like. It overlooks the golf course and Fistral in the distance with the beach access road in between, great for a little people watching. The room I booked was the Economy Room and it was a little small, however fine for a few days. It was perfect to use whilst on the course as I could nip up between sessions and order food/drinks with just a signature. The breakfast was good and so was dinner, all the staff were friendly and the restaurant area very nicely finished. Yes there is a little bit of compromise needed on the room size, the walls in the cheaper rooms a little thin but if you like the beach, bodyboarding, surfing or Coasteering then it cannot be beaten. I travel quite a lot and cannot understand why some reviews are so low, if you the restaurant is felt expensive then there are plenty of choices in Newquay or at the Stable on Fistral beach, I are at both and think both were good value if you take everything into account. I can't wait to go back, I almost gave it 5 stars.
