We held a reception at the Carnmarth for our daughter's wedding and booked all the bedrooms for the guests. Everything was perfect. The venue, the staff and food were excellent. Emma ensured that everything was just what the bride and groom wanted.

I didn't stay in this hotel but used the bar / restaurant on 3 occasions. The staff were friendly and the food was superb, proper homecooked stuff. The bar area has clearly had a funky re-fit and it was a pleasure to sit inside or out on the terrace listening to the waves on Fistral Beach.
We took advantage of a special offer on the food which made it extremely good value. Highly recommended for a meal and a drink. Loved it.

Unfortunately my first review on this site has to be a negative one - stayed at many lovely hotels, but due to poor quality of this hotel, I felt I had to register to state why.

Initially on arriving, the parking is very poor - only approx 10 small spaces on a slope next to hotel. Very difficult even trying to navigate small car into space, especially as other guests clearly had problems too and cover half of next space! As there are 66 rooms, it is likely you will need to purchase permit on top of room rate to park at nearby hotel...

While the breakfast staff were friendly, the same cannot be said for reception...was hoping after reading mixed comments previously, the negative comments were over-sensitive, but to be honest, I left feeling the positive comments had been posted by the staff themselves...

Finally the room - well, put it this way, it was compact, but not bijous - the bathroom was interestingly designed so you could barely sit on loo - was nice feature I guess that you could wash your feet in shower at same time I guess as there was about one foot between the two - no way of closing door while in there though....as per previous comments, the shower power was non existent - think I have sneezed with more force...

In positive side, the hotel is in a good location, but that unfortunately is the only positive I could come up with...the walls were also so thin, I could hear the chap in next rooms conversation on phone which was better than Eastenders I guess...

We stayed for 3 nights at start of August 2010. The hotel is in a brilliant location near Fistral Beach and has great views over beach and golf course. The outside is very appealing and the hotel has a great bar, terrace and downstairs areas. The staff were very friendly and the welcome was warm. We only had a couple of complaints. Unfortunatley they were pretty big complaints. The room we had was not good and no where near the standard of the downstairs. Very small, tired and obvioulsy in need of refurbishment. Also the breakfast wasnt that great. The coffee machine in particular which they use during breakfast makes awful coffee and the cooked breakfast tasted like it was made with very cheap ingredients.

Stayed a few days in early July.

Good points:
- Easy to get to.
- Some outside parking and if not they provide a pass for nearby parking
- 2 minute walk to Fistral Beach
- 4 minute walk into the town
- Perfect location
- Good, cheap food cooked to a good standard from the bar.
- Friendly smiling staff.
- Quiet
- Large room with great view from large balcony. (Best room)

Bad Points
- Regular rooms and corridors could do with a refit.
- Bathroom in superior room looked tired (but still very clean)
- Cooked breakfast was a little cheap tasting.

Overall a really good stay. The proximity to the beach is without doubt the selling point.
Would recommend.

The location was brilliant, right near Fistral Beach, the weather was lovely when we visited which always helps.

The bar and restaurant area of the hotel were nice, service was good and evening meal pleasant. The bar and restaurant were generally busy both inside and out with locals, which is always a good sign.

The rooms were clean but needed a little more attention. It looked as though the rooms had recently been modernised but not quite finished, i.e some of the skirting board and door frames weren't quite finished. It was a good size room and the bathroom was a good size.

The hotel provided free wifi, which was handy although didn't always work on the top floor but we couldn't really complain as it was free!!

Parking is limited at the hotel but we always managed to find a space in one of the designated car parks.

Overall, the good location made up for the few niggles about the room.
