“Food service and match fishing”
Reviewed 9 July 2013 via mobile

The park and fishing is great the welcome really good, i had a major issue in a match i arrived at my peg and there was a guy fishing it and after walking all the way back to the lodge all they offered me was my money back which is no use if you only get to fish there twice a year. the service in the restaurant is so slow if you are eating there book an extra week stay, OMG,

We stayed in a "Fraddon" caravan, which no doubt in its day was lovely, and sleeping four was more than we needed as a couple. But years of use left it looking a little tired and worn with missing buttons on the cushions, mystery stains on the carpet and cigarette burns on the fabric. The curtains looked like they could have done with re hanging as most had slipped a hook or two. It has to be said that the bedding was clean and aired and the rest of the caravan in the majority clean enough for our short stay.
The entertainment in the club house looked to be appreciated by those with families and the bar and café area were busy most evenings with groups of various families, single sex and families all enjoying the facilities of bowling, pool and darts.
Ideal for a cheap holiday with many special deals on offer no doubt this is an excellent value option for reducing costs and ideally placed for enjoying the Cornish coastline and exploring inland.

Room Tip: Some caravans are closer to the club house and swimming pool, others closer to the lakes, choose you...

We have just returned from White Acres staying in a caravan. On arrival at reception we found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. The first impressions of the site were very good. It appeared clean and well spread out.

The caravan we had requested was suitable for those with disabilities. All the doors in the caravan were wider and were sliding doors. The shower was much larger than you normally get in a caravan and there was also a seat. The one bedroom was much bigger than normal with 2 good size single beds and a wardrobe. It is ideal if you do have some mobility problems. The caravan number was 81. It was also quite close to all the amenities and you can park your car next to the caravan. Overall we were pleased.

Although the caravan was generally quite clean there was one or two things that were lacking in cleanliness to make it perfect. Firstly the dining table, coffee table, televistion and other flat surfaces all looked like they had been wiped down with a dirty cloth and just left. When watching the television all you could see were the marks from it being cleaned with a wet cloth. The dining table in particular was badly streaked and even though I went over it with wipes you could not get the marks off. The other surfaces i.e. sink, cooker etc. did appear to be clean. The other problem was the shower curtain. The bathroom in general was lovely and clean but what let it down was the state of the shower curtain. Across the bottem it was black with mould and looked disgusting. I cannot for the life of me understand why when shower curtains are so cheap these holiday rentals do not just replace them when they get in that state. I would have thought that the cleaning of these caravans would be checked on by a supervisor to ensure they have been cleaned correctly so why are they not picking up on minor problems like these I have highlighted. Although they are not major things they do spoil what is otherwise a nice caravan.

The park itself is very good and the playground area for kids is wonderful. There is a great big galleon for them to explore, crazy golf and various other delights to keep kids happy. One thing you do need to be aware off if you have kids is the constant stream of traffic going down to the lakes for the fishing. The road goes through the caravan park and although there are signs telling the cars to go slow there are a lot of idiots driving like loonies through there. If a kiddy ran out from between the caravans they would not stand a chance. I do think this is something that Parkdean should be looking at and finding ways to improve. Although we did not go into the entertainment much in the evening it seemed a pleasant enough bar. The on site shop left a bit to be desired. There was not much choice and what there was was not cheap. If you travel towards Newquay there is a co-op and a morrisons which is much cheaper.

Overall we did enjoy our week there and although we did not have any kids with us I think it is a good place for a holiday with kids.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at white acres.
2 caravans booked in my party Fraddon and Treviscoe. After reading some poor reviews on here. I collected my keys with a view to complaining after seeing what has been described in some reviews as bad accommodation.
Both vans were modern and clean and serviceable. We stopped in the Fraddon and the only difference was it is a little smaller and doesn't have GCH and DG. But I would stay in the Fraddon again as it was lovely also.
The park was lovely the staff were very helpful. The pool is perfect and lovelt and warm for the babies in our party.
The hot tub really is hot.. lovely
To dispel some previous reports.. The toilets in the lakeside bar are brand new and v clean
The restaurant offers lovely food. we went twice :)
The chip shop does do real chip shop chips
The shop is handy and not too expensive.
The pool is clean and nice
The staff we met were most helpful
Our conclusion was that either a lot of work has gone on at this park to.improve standards.....or the previous reviewers were hard to please...
I really was worried about coming here after reading the reviews but I was so surprised.
I will definitely return to White Acres
Please don't be put off by previous reviews
I am quite particular esp where cleanliness is concerned and I cant fault any aspect to White Acres
Fab park. fab location :)
