“Lovely Site”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

We have just come back from a weeks holiday at White Acres and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The caravan we stayed in was a Trevallas and it was modern, spacious and very clean. The beds were made up on arrival which was great! There are plenty of on site facilities - we made good use of the pool and the amusement arcade. We didn't eat at the restaurant or take away so cannot comment on that. The only downside was waiting for a coffee at the costa bar in the evenings - be prepared for a long wait! We kept being ignored and heard one of the bar staff say that they would not serve the coffee as it wasn't their job! After about 15 minutes we eventually had our coffee. The site is well located for visiting Newquay beaches - all of which are fantastic. There is a morrisons supermarket about a 5 minute drive from the site (when driving towards Newquay, take the turning off one of the roundabouts which says macdonalds). The on site shop is well stocked, ok for when you run out of essentials but like all on site shops they are pricier than supermarkets. All the staff on the site were friendly and helpful (unless you wanted a cup of coffee!). We would definately return to this site.

After just returning from 2 nearly perfect weeks, myself, my partner and family have now been frequenting Whiteacres for 13 years (since it was privately owned) and will, no doubt, continue to drive the 390 miles from Yorkshire to Cornwall.

It is simply a marvellous family holiday with great facilities and also centrally located in order to explore the many exquisite beaches and quaint seaside resorts of the beautiful county of Cornwall.

Myself and my partner had one week on our own and were then joined by further family including grandchildren for our second week. The sun shone for two solid weeks, which always helps! Whiteacres provides a great location for exploring, Newquay and its beaches being jut 7 miles away. Fistral and Perranport beaches are firm favourites with us all. Caravans have adequate facilities, although the Fraddon which we stayed in, is looking rather weathered and a little tatty inside. This is the first year that beds have been made up on arrival which I feel is a nice touch. Other members of our party had much more modern and far superior accommodation.

The biggest and most prominent DOWNSIDE AND DISAPPOINTMENT, and we really should have learnt after all these years, is the appalling Polkerris on-site restaurant. My sincere advice is - DO NOT WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME. On our last night, my partner decided to treat all the family to a meal (6 adults and 4 grandchildren). After over 1 hour we had still not been served our food (we hadn't even ordered starters), had witnessed two parties stand up, give their opinion to the staff and walk out. My partner and one of his sons had also, by this point, verbally provided their opinion and gross dissatisfaction to the staff, and walked out. The children were starving and many parties were very agitated, one gentleman commenting to the duty manager who had been called, that he was 14 years of age when he walked in and now felt like an old man! The duty manager, Mark, tried his best and even called in, from his night off, the restaurant manager. One of the security who was also called, admitted to me that the kitchen was totally inadequate in size to serve the restaurant. No-one from the kitchen tried to give any explanation and the restaurant manager, when he arrived, never showed his face. Our food arrived after one and a half hours!, it's was cold and completely sub-standard - the children ate as they were beside themselves (we'd gone in at 6.30pm) and it was now gone 8pm - then we simply walked out. I refused to make any payment, to which we then had a full on discussion with they duty manager as security was sent over to see why we had not paid. Eventually the bill was waived and we were told we could go to the take-away and order whatever we would like and again, there would be no charge! A complete admittance, i believe, of the last, nearly two hours, we had been sibjected to. There were so many extremely unhappy and hungry people that evening. We even had to go and get out own drinks from the bar, not enough staff in genral terms. Needs a complete management overhaul and I have also lodged a severe complaint directly with Parkdean.

I would like to mention that Reception and their staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We had a couple of items missing from the caravan, I let them know and by the end of the day, everything had been delivered by housekeeping, who were also, very pleasant and helpful.

The restaurant experience could very easily have ruined a fabulous 2 week exceptional holiday but have put it down to experience and can categorically say, we will NEVER step foot in the restaurant again but will certainly return to Whiteacres.

Friendly staff , lovely caravan and good fishing in most lakes but dissapoined with the specimen lake .On our fist night we ate on the site in the restaurant ...Never Again ...cold under cooked over priced rubbish ..... that was the only thing wrong with the place ... Lovely gardens , good lakes clean site and good shop .... Central setting for visiting doc martin , padstow , newquay , peronporth .. etc . We had a lovely time .... One thing I would say disappointing club house could do with a revamp and better lager .... stella or kronenburg would be better than carling .....

Room Tip: we chose number 78 so its near the shops club house etc , The lodges and log cabins are lovely with...

I have been here many times as my fiancés parents own a two caravans on site. I can't comment on other caravans but look into which caravan and private renters. The site is beautiful with 13 lakes (also makes for lovely walks aswell as fishing!) kids playground and swimming pool, gym jacuzzi and sauna available. The club has evening entertainment (good for kids) and bingo. Arcade and bar area all nice decor with friendly staff. :). I would drive down if you want to get around and see local areas as Cornwall itself is beautifull.

Just back from a week at White Acres, where we stayed in a caravan. Had a great time, all amenities were good. The site was tidy and clean, staff very helpful. Fishing was good, caught more than I thought I would and beat hubby. Good selection of lake for the novice to the most experienced fisher-person. Great location if you want to visit local attractions. Very relaxing and just sad we had to come away. Will definitely go back to White Acres.

The park and fishing is great the welcome really good, i had a major issue in a match i arrived at my peg and there was a guy fishing it and after walking all the way back to the lodge all they offered me was my money back which is no use if you only get to fish there twice a year. the service in the restaurant is so slow if you are eating there book an extra week stay, OMG,
