“Great location, lovely caravan”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

We stayed here last week, lovely little site with some great parks for the young ones. The venue on site was pretty decent, much cleaner than a haven site, but quite small. We didn't make use of the entertainment passes as there was just so much to do in Cornwall, and the pool was pretty dirty so on returning I wouldn't purchase entertainment passes. However the location was fabulous for us and the caravan was immaculate and lovely and warm considering the cold August(!) weather.

We have just returned from White Acres having visited Cornwall for the very first time. Considering the weather was hit and miss we had a lovely week. White Acres is ideally located to explore most of Cornwall being just 5 minutes from the A30 but some of the South West attractions such as Land's End, St Michael's Mount and St Ives can be a bit of a drive. We stayed in a Penrose Lodge which was a 2 bedroom lakeside Lodge and arrived about 1:30 and surprisingly were told our accomodation was ready and so checked in early. The Lodge was quite spacious, both double and twin bedrooms of a good size with pine wardrobes and freeview TVs in both. The Seperate WC was adequate and the Bathroom was again of a good size with an over bath shower and good size mirror. The kitchen was probably the only area we struggled with as there was a lack of worktop space to do anything in. But all mod cons were there witha good size fridge, seperate freezer, microwave, oven and Gas hob and even a washing machine with a clothes horse as well!. The living room was a very good size with three seater sofa a two seater sofabed, a solid looking 6 seater table and chairs and a large coffee table. Outside there was a large wooden veranda with a picnic bench and to the rear a fishing tackle locker or shed depending on what you used it for. Parking was never an issue as most caravans had allocated spaces. The park was well maintained and kept clean throughout our stay and had three play parks for children that I could see and also a recreation field to play football right to one end of the park. The Bar was a nice peaceful place to have a drink with pool tables, air hockey and mini bowling in this area as well as the obligatory arcades in the complex. The 'clubhouse' was where all the entertainment took place in the evening but at times it was difficult to get a table. The entertainment wasnt always to our liking but the interactive quizzes were enjoyable as well as the cash bingo with a top prize of £300+.There was free Wi-fi in the complex area of the park which was better during the day but not so good at night. We did not use the Polkerris resteraunt or the first bite cafe but used the catch of the day chip shop once and found that whilst the burgers were nice the chips werent great. All in all a very good holiday in a good central location of Cornwall and we would consider staying here again but it depends on what area of Cornwall we wished to explore. Hopefully Parkdean and other holiday companies can put pressure on the local council to make the A30 stretch over Bodmin moor a dual carrigeway as the delay on Saturday morning in that area was over an hour due to the sheer weight of traffic heading into the area!!! But it wouldnt stop us coming again.

We have just returned from whiteacres it was out first time there and all in all we had. Lovely week .
Children loved the arcade and I thought the lounge area was lovely for a coffee in the morning , and a quick game of pool with my sun .
The setting is lovely we had a lodge round the lake - in the past we have stayed in cottages in Padstow and the past 2 years in a superior caravan - so the lodge took a bit of getting used to ! It was clean and I though the bedrooms were lovely and rustic kitchen clean and lovely but the living area although clean I felt the curtains need updating as do the sofas - bit stained etc so I really hope they do replace them .
We usually go to the pool everyday on holiday but it was a bit too deep at one end to feel totally safe with my two and dare I say a bit tired looking and lots of tide lines around the toddler pool :(
You may think I am a fussy person - I'm not I have just not come across stuff like this before on holiday .all in all we had a fab time as we love Cornwall - just not sure if I would return ( got back yesterday ) if tr children wanted to I prob ' would !
I found all the staff very helpful though especially at reception but we didn't eat there at all .
I fond

Just had a good week at Whiteacres with the kids, the place is generally good but a few parts could do with improving. The caravan we stayed in was a brand new for 2014 Trevone which was lovely, double glazing, central heating flat screen TV etc. The night time entertainment was good the kids really enjoyed it and the acts they had in were really good, my problems were the club area has nothing to do for the kids except the arcade there isn't a soft play area or anything. The pool was too deep for my children (4 and 6yrs old) at 1 meter deep at its shallowest, yes there is a baby/toddler pool but it's too small for them. The on site chippy isn't great and be careful at night the bulk of the roads around the site are pitch black

This is my third time over the last 30 years holidaying here. Some 8 miles from Cornwall's premier resort Newquay (20 min drive: 30 mins by bus every hour) and 5 mins drive to A30 Cornwall's trunk road so an ideal base for touring Cornwall's many gorgeous beaches, towns and attractions. We drove to Par station (25mins) and used trains (really cheap fares on mainline and hourly services) to likes of St Ives, Looe and drove to Bude (45 mins).

The park is well landscaped with lots of greenspaces and kids play areas. You can park outside your accommodation which comprises modern spacious well stocked caravans. Like all caravans the beds are quite small but they have all mod cons - freeview TV's/microwaves etc. The water pressure was a bit of a problem with the shower turning to a drip at times. Our gas cooker starter broke whilst we were there which they replaced straightaway without any fuss.

Check in is at 4pm or you can pay the extortionate rate of £50 to check in at lunchtime. We chose not to pay the upgrade but had very little traffic and arrived just after lunch. Our accommodation was ready so we went straight in so I would recommend against paying the £50 in advance as they will let you have your accommodation if it is ready anyway.

The park has a club with patchy entertainment from wannabe neverbe red coats and £500 cash bingo which adds to the traditional holiday park environment which is good fun if not a tad lame. The bar is moderately priced with a decent selection. The indoor Swimming pool suffers the same water pressure problems. I thought it a smidgen unhygienic the poolside showers not working for a full fortnight. The pool has inflatable and other child fun sessions throughout the week. There is a shop which is well stocked if not a bit pricey. I wouldn't recommend the Takeaway or Polkerris restaurant. The takeaway is so slow you could be back home from your holiday before the rude staff serve you ( one of the biggest let downs on the park). They don't seem to understand fast food. You order chips thinking a chippy would have them ready to find you are in a queue with 50 other people wanting chips. The staff take offence if you suggest their service leaves you wanting more. The onsite restaurant is overpriced for frozen ready meal food. I paid a fiver for an omelette breakfast to discover it was a £1 Iceland microwave omelette although the Pizzas are more edible on an evening on the bar for a snack.

There is free wi-fi in the main complex buildings but it is patchy. The rural location also means mobile signal is pretty poor so you really can escape the world on your holiday!

Price wise it is around £800 per week in high season per caravan including all park facilities which is pretty much average for Cornwall. All in all would recommend for a good family holiday in Cornwall.

Each to their own but this place is geared up for fishermen and families. Ideal location for trips in to Newquay or Rick Steins Padstow and surrounding towns, villages and resorts. Choice of accommodation is subject to costs but if you Can plump for the log cabins. Having stayed in both luxury 8 berth caravans and log cabins there is only one choice. Seagulls on the roof are a pain but less noisy on the cabins. As some have stated condition varies but generally they are are off a good standard but certain items are looking very jaded and if you can find a "residents home" you will not be disappointed. The site has a club house, a chippy, a very good restaurant and local shop for all your forgotten items. 2 to 3 miles down the road is a Morrisons, Aldi and in Newquay a Sainsburys.
So to the cost of the accommodation really depends on what you pay for and of course the extras you want, sheets, towels and club passes.£1000 will cover a week for 8 or lots less for different times of the year and different styled vans, cabins. Smaller ones for 6 etc may suit.
Kid facilities are bias but there is a pool and the dreaded arcades. Good animation team. We had several things go wrong but they were all fixed within a very short period, really cannot complain and can recommend it for what it is. Self catering with all the facilities you need.
The fishing is absolutely fantastic, heaven for match men but for pleasure consider fishing Bolingy, it is off site but worth the effort.

Room Tip: Not a hotel but go for the log cabins

I never expected a lot from a caravan but when your paying almost £700 for your holiday I would expect more than the rusty tin box we stayed in. Fraddon caravan number 27....was filthy inside the curtains were dirty with mould from the condensation on the windows, there was a funny smell coming from the drains when we ran the kitchen tap. The bathroom was disgusting smelt of urine and the floor was sunken around the toilet. The external doors and windows had had a quick seal put around but the windows were still letting in a draft. Its about time park dean updated their fraddon caravans as these really shouldn't be used....I would be embarrassed to have these on site.
