A delightful place to stay. Debbie could not have been more accommodating and helpful: always available and doing little things to make us comfortable. The decor is very pleasing: bright, pretty, breakfast room, comfy front parlor for reading on a rainy day, large, bright, super clean bedroom. Breakfast very good; a big pot of French pressed coffee a particular treat. Lastly, location very good: quiet, but close to restaurants and bus station.

Carlton review
Excellent B and B ! A delight to stay at Debbie's place. Very friendly with top breakfast and excellent scenery from the top floor room. Bed was large and comfy! Only downsides were the small parking charge we had to pay and the difficult climb to top floor room with our heavy bags. Otherwise an excellent stay and highly recommended indeed!

Recently stayed here and was thoroughly impressed. Debbie is front of house and greets you with a warm welcome. The rooms are spacious and clean. Nice fluffy cream towels in the bathroom. There was also a towel for us girls for when we take our make up off so as not to ruin the cream ones. Nice touch. In addition to an earlier comment about extra shelf space in the bathroom it would have been good to have more towel rails or even a heated towel rail to dry the towels. But that minor change doesn't detract from the scoring. Another nice touch was the provision of a heat mat for straighteners.
Breakfast was good. Quality sausages and bacon on plates hotter than the sun and not swimming in grease as so often happens. The cinnamon toast with fresh fruit was a nice alternative.
There was a well stocked honesty bar and a comfy lounge to sit and drink in
Debbie and Mr Debbie (sorry didn't get to meet you so don't know your name) will rinse and dry your surf boards and wet suits or dry your walking gear and boots for you as well.
All in all a very enjoyable stay and would have no hesitation in recommending The Carlton.

Room Tip: This isn't the place for you if you're trendy hip young things.

We stayed 2 nights in the Carlton room that overlooks the main road with a huge bay window. This room has new bedding and a huge bathroom. It is all very clean and comfortable. The duvet was much too heavy for us and Debbie was very willing and able to make a change to suit us. The only suggestion for the room is to add some shelving in the bathroom. The single glass shelf above a pedestal sink just doesn't give enough room for all the things travelers need in a bathroom. That said, the towels were huge and fluffy and the rest of the bathroom was very nice. The breakfast was the standard fare plus two different continental breakfasts; the savory one was perfect for me! The hotel is well located to walk just a few blocks to some good places to eat. The restaurant and pub recommendations in the room are much appreciated. Finally, the hotel is next to two parking areas, making it very easy for people with cars. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Wow... As we walked into this stunning hotel we felt so welcome! The hotel itself is stunning and extremely clean throughout!

The hospitality was A*.... Thank you Debbie!

Our room was perfect.... Traditional finish and beautifully presented.

Breakfast was brilliant, with alternative choices if desired! Debbie also took note we were not tomato fans, therefore didn't serve them on the following mornings.... Nice touch!

Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will most definitely return!

Have a great, busy season! :)
