Stayed for a couple of nights in August & really enjoyed the stay. Hotel is very well located, 5/10 mins max walk down to town. Having never stayed in a small family run hotel like this before I was really impressed with the level of service. Debbie & Mark really go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect!

Room was a bit small but was really well presented & spotless. Breakfast was lovely each morning, plenty of choice from the cold platter & then whatever hot you had chosen the day before is freshly made. Some mightn't like the restricted time of 8.30 - 9 only for breakfast but it really is a good incentive to get up & out to explore! The terrace bar is lovely too for a pre-dinner drink & a great place to meet other guests.

Would recommend this hotel with no hesitation & look forward to going back

v nice hotel. also, very quiet, which is what i was after, as myself and my husband were looking for a few days of total peace and relaxation. breakfast is lovely experience and the rooms are very well kitted - only thing i would say is that myself and my husband are quite tall, and the beds aren't the biggest, but this is only a minor point. overall it was a very enjoyable stay. i would definitely recommend this hotel and i will more than likely be back next summer!

The Carlton Hotel in Newquay, really is a 4 star hotel in every way, the accommodation is first class, as is the service, the facilities and the décor. The owners Debbie and Mark, are very professional and could not be more helpful, everything is spotlessly clean, the food is excellent, and the dining room is everything you would expect from a 4 star Hotel.
There is a car park immediately next to the Hotel, which Debbie can arrange for £1 a day, the location of the Hotel is in a very good position with views overlooking either the golf course, sea, or both, there are 5 beaches to choose from within close proximity and the Hotel is just the right distance away from the hustle and bustle of the activities of the town centre There are numerous restaurants within easy reach of the Hotel, and Debbie and Mark have even compiled, and made available a list of eating places that have been recommended by patrons of the Hotel.

To run a Hotel to this high standard must be a “labour of love” for Debbie and Mark and it shows in everything they do, I would not hesitate in recommending the Carlton for a really enjoyable stay, and look forward to returning in the near future.

A small but individual Hotel with “A touch of class”

Having travelled extensively within the UK and throughout the world, staying in hotels large and small and in B&Bs,we can safely say that The Carlton is the best small hotel experience that we have had. Its excellent situation on the Town headland provides stunning views, allows easy access to the harbour, and to several good restaurants. The public rooms and the bedrooms are beutifully furnished and the proprietors, Debbie and Mark, provide first class attention to guests and facilities alike. We believe we have found a real gem!

We are a young couple who stayed at the carlton end of July09. We thought the hotel was exceptional!
The hotel on the whole was very clean and tidy, kept very well and the rooms themselves were lovely. We had room number 4 where the view was amazing!

Breakfast time was limited between 8:30 & 9:00, but when only two people run this hotel and do everything, what do you expect? The breakfast was delicious, full english every morning.

As people mentioned in previous reveiws, Debbie does note what you don't like to eat and she'll ask if you don't want it the next day. Makes sense to me...why would you want something you don't like?
Somebody else mentioned about not being able to park directly outside the hotel. It does clearly say on the sign on the gate. Debbie does mention about the clamping that goes on in that area, therefore stresses not to park in certain areas. Very thoughful in my opinion. Besides, if you pay a 10 pound deposit, you can basically park in the car park round the corner for free, as you get a special pass, and you get your money back at the end of your stay.
Newquay does get busy at night with young people but we saw no trouble at all.

Debbie and Mark both work very hard, and this definately shows in thier excellent little hotel.

I was so disappointed by the responses received from the lady at the Carlton who seemed only interested in praising herself on her website. The web is obviously very well presented and caught our eye immediately which was why we made an enquiry. We are three friends in our 40's who wanted to go to newquay for pure relaxation and to visit old relatives who have been living in cornwall for over 40 years. Upon my first enquiry I was told that they did have a 3 bedded room and when I phoned back to check availability I was told this was now gone and that they had no other rooms available as I felt this was a little strange I somehow didn't believe the lady I got one of my friends to phone to check and she was told that they did indeed have three rooms available obviously untrue to what I was told. I find this quite unbelieveable to have been given such false information which I believe was just because we were three female friends coming together. which is rather prejudice. We were happy to pay extra for a twin and a double used with sole occupancy. I am afraid she is turning away good customers and I will not be recommending this establishment purely due to her manner.

I feel there as been a misunderstanding over the telephone conversation, we only have 8 rooms of which only 1 is a twin, the inquiry was for a twin room, this room was not available for the dates the lady required, we are looking to change some of our doubles into twins rooms by using 6ft beds that can split into 2 x3ft beds, we apologize for the misunderstanding. yours sincerely Debbie

We stayed at the Carlton for a few days break. We were made to feel very welcome and had a lovely room at the front of the hotel which was very well furnished and spotlessly clean. The towels in the bathroom were changed regularly and were lovely and thick and fluffy.
Breakfast was well cooked and nicely presented. The hotel itself is in a lovely position, close to the beaches and the centre of town. There is plenty of choice of restaurants nearby, covering the whole range of informal inexpensive food to more expensive fine dining.

The hotel has its own bar and although we seemed to be the only ones using it - it was a lovely relaxing place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. The bar area as is the case with the whole hotel is beautifully furnished and clearly a lot of work goes into keeping it updated. There are tables and chairs laid out on the patio and at night the area is lit by candles making it a pleasant place to enjoy a drink in the evening.

The owners of the hotel were very friendly and they cannot do enough for you - we had a very early check out on our last morning and were offered a breakfast tray in our room. A beach towel drying service is also offered.

All in all a first class hotel with everything you need for a relaxing break.
