“Newquay's most stylish”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2008

My partner and I have just spent a fantastic weekend in Newquay and we can honestly say that one of the highlights was finding this small, but stylish guesthouse. A lot of care had gone into the decor of our room, it was immediately inviting, artistically decorated and we felt very welcomed.
Breakfast was delicious, there was so much choice which seemed to cater for everone's taste. We had the full English and can definitely recommend it. This is a perfect place to go for a romantic weekend.

Jan and Andy are some of the nicest people you could meet. They were very helpful and room was very clean and modern.
Just a few minutes walk and your at bars shops and restaurants.
The breakfast was fab and at a good time til 10 am at weekends, the only thing that was missing for me being female was no dressing table ,so was a bit tricky with hairdryer and straightners stood up but everything else was great. would recommend for couples, families

B&b was very central. Room was nice and clean but not really suitable for a couple as one of you had to climb over the other to get out of bed (we stayed in Elands) & the lack of a door on the bathroom! Breakfast was the highlight & the homemade bread was delicious.

The hotel is in a great location and yes, you do get a warm welcome. I have to agree about the privacy in the bedroom when it comes to the bathroom ........... you definetly need to be a close couple to stay here!

Andy was very welcoming (but don't think he looks like Swayze unless you've had too much wine lol) but sensed an atmosphere of stress about the place. Mainly from his wife Jan i would say.

Stayed for one night.

stayed at newquay in early july for a few days.

good points :

great location
great food at breakfast
smart decor

bad points

room smaller than expected
no bin in room - had to take rubbish out in plastic bags each day
hanging beads instead of a door into ensuite i.e. zero privacy- this was a boundary me and my girlfriend were not ready to cross yet, and we've been together 10 years, can't imagine how a new couple would cope.
Long wait for breakfast and really did not enjoy sitting around a big table having to make polite converstaion with other guests - especially with a hangover

overall I would say that the good points outweigh the bad ones and we really enjoyed our stay

Loved the place. Nice room, clean and really comfortable bed. Jan made the best breakfast ever. Try her egg & bacon melt (to die for :o)) and I even got soyamilk with my breakfast, lovely. Only a few minutes walk to the town. There was a dvd player in the room and loads of movies to chose from. Really good place :o)

First the good bits.....

Location is superb, a 2 minute walk down the hill and you are at The Central Pub.
Very tastefully decorated, very rustic/surfer..ish...
breakfast was ok, if you like to sit around a big table with other guests.

Andy looks like Patrick Swayze from point break!!!

Now the bad points.....

If you book online, through their website, you get what appears a choice of which rooms to book, we clicked on the deluxe room, which clearly shows the attic ensuite room in the photos..... upon arrival..... there's a couple of "deluxe" rooms which were not the ones we "booked".... be warned... the rooms are ok, but nothing compared to the deluxe attic room.....

Not the cleanest B&B in the world
our bed was stunning to look at...... the mattress was Awful......
I hope the owners read this, because with a bit of Effort and rethinking the website, this would be a great B&B in Newquay!!
