The first night dining experience was like a first rate chef was in the kitchen....asparagus risotto was first rate....fish and chips ..a local staple....perfect! Ale...all you could ask for.....loved it so much we made reservations for two night later when friends were joining us from the Midlands...must have been different chef..the risotto...was over done...asparagus was tiny and overcooked....fish pie was average..if you go....it would seem that it is inconsistent!

We decided to venture in to this pub today and we were so glad we did! From the minute we stepped through the door the staff were fabulous especially the barmaid for who nothing was too much trouble, we ordered the food, fish and chips and it arrived very quickly, locally caught fresh fish with homemade tartare sauce was AMAZING cannot recommend enough, thank you for a lovely experience, we will be back :-)

This is a perfect pub environment, but presenting a good restaurant service. The people is very friendly and welcomes you with lovely manner.
All the people in the restaurant were very friendly and taking care of expaling how old and traditional is this environment. You've got actually the impression to be back in time in a wooden environment were you imagine ancient mariners having their beers and telling their stories.
Food is good and served quickly in a lovely manner, assortment of excellent english Ales.

You go there, you will love it.

Yeah, this is a pretty touristy place, all decked out in nautical gee-gaws and doo-dads. Teh food is excellent, as is the service, and a little dose of gee-gaws is a good reminder that you're a tourist.

So eat and drink up and enjoy.

All food served on slates which was fun, fresh food served to order. I still wish that all restaurants would serve free bread with fish just incase you get a bone. Service was brilliant - very professional and attentive staff. I would recommend this pub to all visitors to Penzance - great atmosphere on a Friday night. Great place with character - stuck to a diet coke!
