“Good food- average decoration”
Reviewed 19 April 2007

The Turks Head is a very old pub and because of that, a classic in Penzance.

I looked forward visiting it but I read in a book about pubs in Cornwall by Tim Webb, that Admiral Benbow should be the visitors first priority.
The service at the Admiral Benbow was bad, as we had to wait 1 hour for our food while on the contrary the food and service at the Turks Head were very good indeed.
It is a pity that the decoration of the Turks Head is a bit boring compearing with several other pubs in Cornwall.

All in all, if you are looking for a good food pub, then you can't go wrong with the Turks Head but don't expect delightful original interiors because you''ll get disappointed.
Best regards
Oscar

This pub was recommended to us so had to visit it. It's full of history so quite interesting. Food was quite good, but a bad experience with an abusive customer ruined our experience. There were only women in charge of the pub that night, and were unable to deal with the man in question. We had to leave before our dessert before it all got out of hand!

Some of the specials advertised were not available, yet had not been removed from the menu.

Tables in dining area are very very close together, all conversations overhead by everyone else!

“Loved it!”

We loved this pub! Had a great meal, some fruit wine, and excellent beer. The atmosphere was great, just like the rest of the town. Cannot wait to return.
