We found the Elmsdale guest house to be extremely clean, very stylish with Scandinavian style furniture, with a clean and up to date bathroom where everything worked perfectly! Glenis and Dick serve excellent breakfasts, and went out of their way to provide us with a vegetarian option. Glenis and Dick were very welcoming and were happy to look after our luggage for the day, even lending us an umbrella in case it rained. Dick also pointed us in the direction of Penlee Gardens and Morrab Gardens as a delightful walk into the centre of town. Would highly recommend this excellent establishment. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had the twin room at the back of the house which has a very pleasant view with plenty of mature trees. We also found it very quiet with no traffic noise whatsoever.

Dick and Glenis will make you comfortable, and will set you up for the day with a delicious full English breakfast.

The rooms are small but adequate, with only showers, no tubs.

Location is excellent. Town and the ferry landing are a short walk away. However, if you are taking the ferry, and have luggage, plan on a taxi, if you aren't leaving a car in the ferry parking lot.

The train station is a little farther on, and taxis are scarce in early evening. Make prior arrangements if you want to be sure of having one.

We thank the reviewer for kind comments.

The guest room referred to 4.5m x 4.2 m with an en-suite in one corner measuring 1m x 3m. We beleive it is typical for a Victorian town house in the area.

It is not feasible to provide both bath tubs and showers in en-suites in the mainstream B&B/guest house sector in Cornwall and remain price competitive.

We make strenuous efforts to offer smart, well equipped rooms and a good service at a reasonalbe price for price conscious guests. We do not pretend to offer the facilities and services of a hotel charging between 70% and 160% more than we do.

We spent a couple nights in Penzance earlier this month and can't say enough about Dick and Glenis' hospitality. The Elmsdale is indeed a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in the front room overlooking the street; it was well laid out, comfortable and very clean. Also, the shower in the ensuite worked very well. We are fans of English breakfasts and breakfast here did not disappoint. In fact, they went out of there way to ensure there was a supply of decaf coffee on hand! We both highly recommend the Elmsdale.

Elmsdale was a great place to stay in Penzance. We had the front room with a bay window and new ensuite. It was exceptionally clean and tastefully furnished. The host, Richard, was very accommodating and welcoming. Would thoroughly recommend this B & B. Great breakfast. Very close to the city centre, restaurants and shops. Michael and Janice from Australia.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor if you have a bad back/ heavy luggage.

A nineteenth century house with a Cornish granite frontage and beautifully modernised inside. Neutral colours, plain carpets, modern light coloured furniture, good en-suite, comfortable bed and excellent breakfast. Quiet road, not far from the sea and the town centre. Could not ask for more. One of the best B&Bs I've stayed in.

Thank you for your review. Thank you for persevering and visiting Cornwall despite reports we were 'cut off ' by weather damage. We are open for business as you discovered.
