“belmont B&B”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

The Belmont is a lovely B&B very clean, very friendly with a guest lounge and use of the dining room with Fridge and microwave. The rooms are quite small but the breakfasts are fabulous with anything anyone would want.

The Belmont is just outside the town up a fairly steep hill but it is a lovely walk to the beaches and town down to the via the cliff path which has amazing views over the ocean. You can of course go down the main road to the town.

Well we arrived off a late evening train from Paddington and a short taxi ride (£5) took us to this lovely old house and gardens . In the dusky light it looked really imposing. We were welcomed and taken to our room which we had been warned had no view - it didn't matter for such a short stay.

The room and furnishings were very new and tasteful and the bathroom also freshly refurbished with some nice bath smellies. The bed was very comfortable and it was shame we had to be up at 5.00am for the Scillonian ferry. I can't believe that the owners were kind enough to be up at that hour and take us to the port. So for service I also have to give this b&b high rating.

In the dawn light the house and gardens good be seen in all their glory. A french parterre garden and masses of rhodedendrons. Stunning!

Really amazing ancient house.
Fascinating surroundings of this typical English manor will impress you much anyway. Horses grazing on the field, apple garden, beautiful plants everywhere.
Room was spacious, vintage, well-decorated and very comfortable.
Wonderful (yet not that cheap) breakfast.

Trereife House has been opened by a private family as a B&B for travelers who would enjoy stepping back into the elegant homes of England's gentry. Our room was clean, and the beds comfortable. The breakfast the following morning was wonderful. The rooms are named for the poets of the English Romantic Period, and I had the honor of staying with my daughter in the Wordsworth Room (a poet I taught and loved for over forty years). One of the current owners ancestors was a close friend of Samuel Taylor Coleridge (for whom another room in the house is named). The surrounding property, especially the symmetrical garden, helps the visitor transcend the few signs of an aging property. The owners were very friendly and willing to share the property's history and significance.

An ancient charm fascinated my husband and I as we passed the gate and we saw the lovely garden. An antique house with a long history welcomed us with Coleridge a gorgeous bedroom with a stunning view over the garden. Wonderful, large bathroom with bathtub and a large window overlooking bloomy trees.
Our room and, generally the house, is rich in personality and it is decorated with old objects, pictures, furniture that tell us a bit about its past. But if you want to learn more, you can ask to the owner which, together with his son and his daughter, is kind and attentive. They suggested us a restaurant for the evening that was excellent.
The breakfast, served in a lovely dining room, was excellent. We were sorry to leave this place and we will definitively come back and we will suggest it to our friends as an ideal place if you want to spoil yourself!
Dog friendly.
Absolutely good value for money.

The house is magnificent and full of family antique furniture.

We received a great welcome and service throughout - will definitely return soon.

Best wishes to the family as they transform the business -
