Owner description: We provide guided minibus tours of West Cornwall. They feature the most interesting and beautiful spots of the region and are a great way to learn more about this fascinating land. With a maximum of 8 passengers, tours are intimate and itineraries depend on what you would like to see, what the weather is doing and how far you would like to walk. We typically squeeze in ancient monuments, mining works, a cup of coffee and coastal scenery before running out of time. Open tours run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, last 4 hours, cost from £35 per person and leave from Penzance and St Ives. Private tours start from £195. Call or email for details.

aka Russ and his Bus - fantastic tour yet again - 3rd year running and Russ always finds us unspoilt nooks and crannies of Cornwall that we wouldn't necessary have found. His knowledge of the areas are superb and as for his story telling ... well you would have to be there. A fantastic day out, worth every penny and looking forward to our next jaunt next Easter

I really enjoyed the trip organised by Russ. He collected me near to where I was staying and showed me around some really good sites. He has a wealth of local knowledge which made the trip really interesting and I felt that I learnt a lot about Cornwall. I highly recommend one of his tours, either in a group or a private tour.

Thanks to Russ for a full day private tour around 'his' Cornwall, taking into account the on-and-off drizzly weather, my laziness (requested no big hills to climb or long walks), our interest in history and the fact that we were happy to leave it all to him to make the best of our seven hours. Highlights were the Minack Theatre, Lanyon Quoit, Mermaid church, tiny country lanes and lovely little villages but those are just a few experienced during a fascinating day spent with a knowledgable and thoroughly pleasant young man. We were picked up and dropped off at our holiday apartment in Penzance, stopped for a cream tea half way through. The tour gave my husband a chance to have a good look around without having to concentrate on driving, and we had no worries about getting lost. We most certainly recommend Western Discoveries to anyone wanting to see the real Cornwall.

We found Western Discoveries Day Tours right here on Trip Advisor. We opted for a full day private tour with Russ Peake, the founder, and we are so happy that we did!
We were picked up and returned to our hotel in Carbis Bay. We were able to experience a typical Cornwall day in May, which offered us the full gamut of weather, from rain to bright, glorious sunshine. Russ proved to be extremely enthusiastic about Cornwall, wonderfully dedicated to giving his clients a great day, and Oh! so knowledgeable about the region.
We walked amongst the gorse and were treated to a mystical mermaid legend in a church in Zennor. We visited marvelous stone monuments (Men-an-Tol, the Merry Maidens, and Lanyon Quoit) and “felt the energy”. We saw spectacular coastlines and the ruins of the once thriving tin mining industry in St. Just. We visited the Minack Theater, perched amazingly on a steep cliff edge right on the ocean. We sampled Cornwall’s gastronomic specialties, cream tea (early) and (later) pasties.
Along the way, Russ engaged us with great local folklore, history, an introduction to Cornish words, and when it ended, left us eager to return to Cornwall for more.
Highly recommended!

Russ will take you for a trip that you definitively will love! Even thou the weather was nothing to brag about, the tour went very well. Russ knows very much and shows you all the need-to-see places in the tour.
