Description: Set on a quiet Penzance back street, The Crown is one of Cornwall’s hidden gems. You’ll find no distracting screens, jukeboxes or slot machines – just friendly local people savouring the ambience and hospitality of this renowned establishment. The Crown is also home to Cornish Crown ales, a local real ale brewed by the landlord that has a loyal following with six regularly brewed variations. Three draft ales are always in tap at The Crown, and this will expand to six pumps of real ale. There are also weekly guest ales and we also have Prosecco on draft.

We have visited twice as a family so far, my partner has visited more times (to sample the beers) and each time we have been warmly welcomed the atmosphere is friendly and buzzy the food is delicious we went on steak night and the meat was cooked to perfection and large portions to boot, excellent value for money. Fabulous beers well kept and made by the landlord himself.

Living in Penzance, if you enjoy your food and drink at not silly prices, is a joy. The Crown Inn joins several other establishments that really make the town what it is, a great balance of local people and visitors supporting what the town has to offer. The Crown is friendly, atmospheric, situated right in the heart of town on Bread Street, a back street that resembles one in southern Italy more than Cornwall, perhaps!

The Crown Inn brews its own ales which are excellent and seasonal. Together with this is a
menu and weekly deals bringing home cooking to your table. They are known for their pizza nights on Sundays (following Sunday roasts which are so popular you have to book in advance), local fish and chips on Wednesdays and steak nights (our favourite) on Thursdays. They use excellent, usually local, ingredients, especially the meat and fish. The steaks are always cooked to perfection, beautiful and charred on the outside and as you like it on the inside. Mouthfuls of melting, succulent beef, tasty fries and onion rings, usually served with a nice bowlful of salad. The fish and chips are also excellent and hearty portions are served so keep your tummies empty beforehand! The pizza menu is small but they have got their dough down to a tee and a refreshing change to the bready, stodgy ones you get in other pubs.

The Crown Inn is a real asset for us as locals and as a visitor you will be welcomed warmly. Come here to experience some true Penzance hospitality!

A traditional proper pub which makes a nice change from the sterilised "Wetherspoons" type chains which seem to dominate every high street these days. Situated in a back street just off the town centre with friendly staff. Small inside so would recommend booking but makes for an intimate atmosphere. Went in for Sunday lunch which was great quality and excellent value for money. On Thursday nights they do 2 rib eye steaks and a bottle of wine for £24 which we will definitely be trying soon.

This was nice...traditional olde pub with a small selection of decent real ale and homemade food. We had pizzas and they were really good. Not out of this world "good" but very nice and good value for money. The other half had a cheesecake, too, and was glad to hear and see that it was shop-bought.
Beers were in great condition, too.

Very friendly staff as well.

We often wend our way down to this friendly neighbourhood pub. The landlord and landlady (Josh and Michelle) adopt a friendly and relaxed attitude to their customers and you feel like you are really welcome. There is a lively atmosphere there most nights, it really reflects the community living around it. Their pizzas are on home made bases, surprisingly good and inexpensive, specially on Sunday nights when a 12" pizza costs only £5, they're much superior to any pizza outlet in the town.

We went there last night for Steak night which is a favourite of ours, 2 x rump steak with chips and onion rings + a bottle of house wine for £24 + £1.50 for peppercorn sauce which comes in a separate dish and 1 dish will easily serve 2 people. We also shared a cheese platter between 3 for £5 and the fourth in our party had a very nice sticky toffee pud £4.75. Service was good and although I hate to keep on repeating myself, very friendly... you are made to feel like a valuable customer.

Food served Weds - Sun. Limited menu but done very well. Sunday lunch time roast.
