“Always a Great Stay”
Reviewed 18 July 2012

We stayed for a second time in late May and were fortunate to have good weather. Once again the hotel met our expectations. This time we had a different view from our previous visit - a view over the town and the sea - so we could sit at the window and watch the maritime traffic coming and going in the bay. As usual, Peter was the perfect host and was at all time friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are aways a treat. At risk of repeating myself, the hotel is a wonderful base for exploring west Cornwall. I recommend that visitors make use of the local bus services that network the area and travel through some beautiful countryside. We hope we will be back again some time in the near future.

We jumped on the train to Penzance to escape the Jubilee madness, and were so pleased we did. Fabulous location, such views! Amazing. Easy access from station, easy access to all the area has to offer, beautiful walk to Mousehole.

Lovely hotel, great mix of period features and contemporary touches. We were made so welcome start to finish, and have to say the best food we ate was right here in the hotel (and there is very strong local competition so that's really saying something).

Weather was bad so we didn't get to try the lovely pool, next time hopefully! As there will most definitely be a next time.

This is our third year at the Hotel and I'm pleased to say the hotel is as good as ever. We stayed in room 25 with great sea views if you stand and look out. The room was spotless and serviced to a high standard each day.

Breakfast is plentiful and there is a huge choice of both cold and cooked food. Complimentary tea, coffee and cakes in the afternoon is worth gettibg back to the hotel for, and we took advantage of cocktails before dinner choosing to sit out on the veranda most nights.

The food is not the cheapest but of the highest standard and worth the money.

The entire staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Peter is especially helpful and makes it hid job to make sure you are looked after during your stay.

The car park can be a bit of a negative as it is steep, so some may choose to park on the road outside.

So once again to all at the Hotel Penzance for a wonderful relaxing stay. We will see you again!

Room Tip: Get a sea view. From some rooms you can sit and see the sea which is good. From room 25 we could s...

I had booked a single room and was only staying for one night with dinner so my potential spend would have been comparatively small but the staff at the Hotel Penzance could not have been more helpful and welcoming. I travelled by train from Bristol and the hotel is a short walk from the station but there is a fairly steep hill for the last bit .My room was well designed, very smart decor and sea views. The evening meal was an exceptionally good experience; beutifully cooked duck breast with plenty of fresh vedge. The view over the harbour is quite grand. I especially enjoyed the tea/coffee and home made cakes provided free for guests in the afternoon - nice touch, that. Breakfast was perfect - cold buffet with cooked to follow.

This is a very nice hotel, with an excellent, efficient, and friendly staff, and a wonderful dining room. The view from some of the rooms is excellent, and the garden out front is delightful.

Room Tip: Rooms above the ground floor, and at the front of the hotel, have the best view.

Stayed here for the weekend during the festival two adult couples.
Arrived by train and walked to the hotel it's up a steep hill so not suitable for walking if you have difficulties.
On arrival at reception the welcome was lovely and we were delighted to hear we had been upgraded.
We then shown to our rooms (that doesn't happen much these days).
The rooms were a little small but very well presented with lovely fluffy gowns for use.
We didn't have dinner in the hotel but did see the food on our return for an irish coffee it looked lovely.
Breakfast was excellent with a massive choice an fantastic views down to the harbour.
This was a lovely hotel with excellent service and good food and the beds were really comfortable.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and might well be back next year.

Room Tip: Get a sea view

A very friendly and efficiently run hotel. The room and view were superb. Would certainly stay again without hesitation. It's not the cheapest but the attention to detail and comfort make it good value.

Room Tip: Sea view worth every penny! Beware - no lift.
