“50th Wedding Anniversary Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2013

We stayed for two nights at the end of September with friends in Superior Doubles which had outstanding views across Mounts Bay and Penzance Harbour. On arrival we were warmly welcomed, given a tour of the hotel's facilities, had our bags carried to our room all of which got us off to a very good start. The room had everything you would expect for a Superior room plenty of space , large comfortable bed , good size TV and nicely appointed bathroom. We had our anniversary dinner in the Bay Restaurant on the second night with four friends. We were greeted by a charming and attentive restaurant manager and given a complimentary Bucks Fizz. The meal was excellent and the service couldn't have been more friendly and efficient, it was an evening to remember. It is difficult to find fault with this hotel however I would much prefer not to have to make my own toast at breakfast!

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view.

What a gem. The walk up the hill was worth it as we found this excellent hotel. The room was superb, with a coffee making machine which was a classy touch. The large red chair that was by the window was fabulous. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Afternoon tea upon arrival was an unexpected treat.
The bathroom was excellent with the largest bath!
A great spot to relax.

Hotel staff were very friendly and efficent, and the setting/location excellant.
However I felt the room was very over priced as it was a small double with a wardrobe for hanging but no drawers or shelves for the rest of the cloths.
Cocktail hour all though resonably priced was definatly the worst Mojito ever, lacking mint, and alcohol, which explained the two for one price.
But by far the biggest disapointment was the breakfast, the plus was that we could breakfast at leisure until 11.00 on Sunday. I asked for 2 poached eggs with the farmhouse breakfast, and recieved 1 hard poached egg, one rasher of lightly cooked bacon, 1 sausage, pre-cooked, 1 mushroom, half an egg and some dry beans., my wife asked for the omlete with mushrooms on the side, and although the omlete was nice she only had 1 mushroom..
Sorry to say I will not return, £257 for the night with drinks for us and 2 friends, (cocktail hour, one round and a night cap for 2) not good value

As this was our second stay in the hotel we were looking forward to meeting the resident cats-now
alas only one. On our arrival we were given a warm welcome and shown the geography of the hotel
and taken to our room which by a lucky chance was the same one we had occupied before with
views over the harbour and St Michael's Mount. As before breakfasts and evening meals were
delicious and served expertly by smiling welcoming staff. We also appreciated the complementary
afternoon tea. Without exception all the staff were expert, helpful and smiling and were a credit to
the hotel.

Room Tip: We were lucky to have an excellent view over the harbour and of St Michael's Mount from the bat...

I greatly appreciated the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff. The room was very comfortable with spectacular views over Mount's Bay. Afternoon tea in the lounge is a particular treat. Also, for a non-car borne traveller, it is a boon to have such an excellent facility within walking distance of the rail and bus connections at Penzance Station.

Room Tip: Rooms on the East Side have the best views.

For us as experienced travellers this was the worst stay anywhere in the world -at any price -for the last ten years. There are many problems - too many to enumerate -from hideously noisy dining room, through incredibly bad cooking for a very expensive dinner to semi conscious management. We shall not be staying again.

This operation believes it's own advertising and marketing. We have extensive experience in this field and our judgements are based on sound knowledge.

It is really not worth making further observations -we found that the owners already are aware of some of the issues.........................

We stayed for 4 nights on the second week of September. Very friendly and helpful staff. Tea and cakes served every afternoon which is a nice touch, We had a most comfortable Superior room with a great view over the harbour. As the weather was great we had a relaxing breakfast on the deck overlooking the pool and harbour. A nice restaurant serving excellent food with an "early bird" menu before 18.30. We will stay there again.

Hi,
We really appreciate your nice comments and are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. The 'early bird' menu is proving to be very popular especially as it also includes our menu du jour for £13.45 for a two course meal, served up until 18.30. It is an ideal option to our picnic when wanting to go out and about to explore West Penwith or if going to the Minack Theatre for the evening.
Looking forward to seeing you again.
Bye for now from a lovely sunny, but windy, Penzance.
