“We'd happily return here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2014

We travel around Europe and stay in a lot of hotels and this is one of the better hotels. We booked for 5 nights and were very happy and intend to return (which says it all). The room was spacious, clean, tidy and well kept with nice details like the little nespresso coffee maker in the room. We had a fine view of the harbour to watch boats going out and in, the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful greeting us properly on our initial arrival and showing us around the hotels facilities. Breakfasts were a treat, good quality food anything from cereals to croissant to good old sausage and bacon. The restaurant is one of the best in the area fine dining and well worth experiencing. The only downside maybe is parking can be a bit limited when the hotel is full. Highlights were the afternoon tea's and cakes, the resident cat Mr Jerry (who prowls around and believes he owns the place). The hotel is comfortable/cosy and well kept.

Stayed here for one night on business and ran a training day here too - only complaint, why did I have to leave so soon?
I stay in a lot of hotels around the UK and I sometimes dread little boutique hotels as that can be under par. NOT HERE.... Staff were wonderful (special mention to the lovely Matre D), my room was comfortable, stylish, warm and had the best views in Penzance.
I had a meal in the Bay restaurant worthy of any London restaurant. Great offering for vegetarian - if you get a chance do not pass by the walnut gnocchi, to die for!
Well done to all!

Room Tip: Worth climbing the stairs and asking for a room with a sea view.

I am careful with Hotels in the UK, cause I made bad experience in the past. So I was very careful and due, to some bad reviews I almost did not book. I am glad I did!

I asked specific for a full sea view room and got room no 27, who we could accompany our Dog too. We got welcomed for an afteroon Tea/Coffe and wonderful pastries and a very nice Hotel Manager (Owner?)

Very nice bathroom, comfortable bed. Breakfast also was very good and more than enough for us.
Only thing I would change was, to stay a few nights more to explore the area. Yes, Penzance might not be the picturest town, however it is a good place to explore southern Cornwall.

Visit the Italian Kitchen in Newlyn for a great Italian dinner!

Oh, and their housecat is just great :-)

Room Tip: 27 has nice seaviews!

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself. Please call me to discus your experience as it is very out of character for anyone to be served 'short measures'. We do deliberately cook simple dishes like a roast with reduced salt, at the request of health conscious diners, which may not have been to your taste, but this is available for diners to add to their own taste at the table. Our wines are all hand picked fine wines which begin at £17.50 a bottle, with 13 by the glass, but as I don't know your dining date or name I cannot look further into the problem, nor check your bill.

a few minor problems with key card staying charged and bath taps both being hot and the bath water having a golden hue. Everything else excellent. Staff were all friendly and helpful, breakfast extensive and excellent and dinner was divine. Plus a magnifiCat who is quite sure he is in charge.

Warm friendly welcome, lounges & dining room well appointed with beautiful views. Staff - knowledgeable & professional. Environmentally friendly, independent heating & A/C & windows that open properly. Room 8 had a duvet comforter under sheet, very comfy bed, Lovely furnishings, views over harbour. Espresso coffee maker, toiletries, bath robes & powerful efficient shower, what more could we ask. Everything has been thought of for the comfort of guests. Child friendly, lovely clean pool.
There is an honesty box when the bar is unmanned, complimentary tea.coffee & cake every afternoon. As well as 4 choices of afternoon tea-cream/sandwiches/champagne etc.
Breakfast-7.30 to 11.00- is a proper Cornish Farmhouse Job, beautifully presented & cooked to order, organic eggs anyhow you like, extremely good service in restaurant with superb menu for Dinner, Top Cornish restaurant for 3 years running.
2 minutes walk to bus & train station & harbour.
Small car park but in Cornwall - your car is not as wide as you think it is!
Will definitely be going back.

The Hotel was easy to find on approach road to Penzance and parking was available on site .The warmest of welcomes was given us by the Guest Services Manager Sue Hornsey who smoothed us through the quickest of check in procedures and showed us to our beautiful room with twin aspect view over St Michael's Mount and Penzance Harbour .A nother welcome bonus was the complimentary tea and cakes in one of the lounges. We did not take advantage of the Bay bar and restaurant which has been tastefully refurbished and also has stunning views over the Bay .Overall the collection of sculptures and paintings that decorate the Hotel give the place a feeling of soul . This is a small private hotel that has given a lot of attention to detail and has got it right .A two night stay to attend a function in Penzance turned into a lovely restorative and uplifting mini break .Have already booked a return visit .

Room Tip: Room 25 on the third floor is quiet and has stunning views

Good afternoon and thank you for your review. It was really nice to meet you both and are glad we made your stay so good that you decided to book your return visit before you departed. We are all looking forward to seeing you again when you will have the opportunity of sampling the delights that are currently on offer in The Bay restaurant.
From a dramatic windy and wild Penzance.
