“Brilliant day!!”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

Having been visiting Cornwall all my life this was my first sea safari on the south coast. What a brilliant day it was! Rory was an excellent guide and we were fortunate to see, amongst other varied wildlife, dolphins, sunfish and basking sharks, 16 of these!! The powerful rib meant we could cover a large area and track any sightings quickly. Although we were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife, we would still have found this trip immensely enjoyable anyway as the stunning coastline and Rory's knowledge of it was truly wonderful. We took our grown up children (18 and 21) with us and they absolutely loved it! Thanks Rory and will definitely be trying one of your snorkelling trips next year!!

“Ocean Safari - Elemental Tours, Penzance, Cornwall”
Reviewed 2 September 2012

Do not even hesitate, go straight for the Ocean Safari! Wrap up warm, take your waterproofs and have an amazing 3 hours. Rory is an excellent skipper and guide, spotting wildlife while explaining the importance of marine conservation. He is also an expert on coastal geology, local history and all the landmarks along this most beautiful of coastlines.

The longer length of the Ocean Safari allows time for a more detailed exploration of the coast in his powerful 12-seater RIB. Leaving Penzance, we went along the south coast past Mousehole, the Minack Theatre, out into the Atlantic around the dramatic Longships lighthouse, past Land's End and along the north coast to Cape Cornwall.

Wildlife isn't guaranteed but we soon started to pick up oceanic seabirds: gannets, fulmars, shearwaters, petrels and saw grey seals basking on the rocks. We were hoping to see basking sharks, even though they are not normally to be expected off Cornwall in late summer. Despite the grey day and sometimes lumpy seas, we had luck on our side and saw 11 basking sharks in total, 5 sunfish and a large school of harbour porpoises. The basking sharks came really close, near enough to see some of them swimming with their mouths wide open.

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. You never know what's out there. Rory said he'd spotted a minke whale earlier in the day. Bottlenose and common dolphins are frequently sighted and sometimes, if you're really lucky, fin whales.

In 2012, prices were £38 for adults and £32 for children up to age 15, which although is not the cheapest trip on offer does represent excellent value for money. I persuaded friends to join us on the trip, all of us with teenagers and despite being wet and cold, they all loved it. We would definitely go again. Thank you Rory.

“Would recommend to anyone!”
Reviewed 10 August 2012

A truly memorable trip. To get up close to these fantastical sea creatures was an unforgettable experience. We saw basking sharks, that Rory said were small at 2.5-7m but looked enormous to me!, a sun fish and we even glimpsed a turtle. Thanks to Rory who made it a fascinating 3+ hours that even held the interest of a 7 and 8 year old the whole time & who now want to go again! His links with local wildlife associations also meant that we got tipped of about sightings during our trip, so that he could photograph them to document individual shark movements. Still glowing from seeing the open mouth of a basking shark in the ocean in Cornwall!

“unforgettable!”
Reviewed 5 August 2012

firstly i would like to thank Rory for making my 30th birthday a unforgettable day! the overland safari was excellent, we found out so much about the history of the area, conservation efforts and wildlife habitat! and spotted many buzzards, sea birds and a basking shark at cape cornwall, Rory is a fountain of knowledge and a top bloke to chat to! excellent value of money!

so great we then went on the RIB tour!

3 hours(or more like 4 1/2 - 5 when we got back to harbour) we had a fast, exciting ride in the RIB, stopping to find out about the geology and wildlife, we sighted many sun fish, porpoises, gannets, sotty, balearic and manx shearwaters! 5 basking sharks in total and one that swam round the boat when we stopped for snacks, the knowledge that Rory and shoran have of the wildlife, history and geology of the land and sea is brilliant, the trip was made so good by there info! worth every penny,

thank you rory for making my birthday and holiday so special! we will be back soon!

“Great boat for nature hunting”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

We went out on a four hour trip looking for sea birds, seals, dolphins, and especially basking sharks.

Rory and Andrew were entertaining and knowledgeable guides and spent over 5 hours out there with us trying to find everything on our list!

Sadly we didn't quite find the basking sharks of our dreams (we did see one but it was shy!) but we did see lots and it was great that the crew went out of their way trying to find us some - an extra hour out on the water!

If you are booking then book early, but expect things to change - the tide, the weather and the harbour seem to make things quite complicated... Also, carry some extra warm clothes and some snacks!
