Took a 3hour trip with Elemental Tours on the 21st September after seeing them mentioned in BBC Wildlife Magazine. We took the trip in the hope to see Basking Sharks! We were also out at sea for longer than the three hours! I was very apprehensive about taking a trip on the boat as I have never been on a RIB boat before, but i felt at ease during most of the trip - especially as it was a nice calm day. In fact I really enjoyed the boat trip, found that type of boat a brilliant way to explore the sea as it was quick and exhilarating and meant we could easily stop and manouver if someone saw something and cut the engine out if we needed to be quiter (e.g. around the porpoise). It was also quite comfortable and you felt really close to the water.

Out trip took us out of Penzance, past Mousehole, Lamorna Cove, Porthcurno and the Minnack, Longships Lighthouse all the way to Cape Cornwall. Rory was an excellent guide who was very passionate about the wildlife and really knew his stuff which made all the differeence, he was also very informative and entertaining with the stories and I learnt a lot about the history/geoglogy of the Cornish Coast.

In terms of wildlife, we didn't see any basking sharks, but thats the unpredictability of nature. Seeing Seals, Porpoise, Sooty Sheerwater, Shags and diving gannets was not a dissapointment, seeing all these species, the beautiful cornish coastline, along with the exhilarating boat ride and wealth of information made the trip worth the money! This trip ois slightly more in cost than other boat trips but this one is unique, the boat is different, we got more time at sea than we paid for, and you feel you have a guide who is someone who really knows their stuff and where to look and really cares about the sea life. Although we didnt see basking sharks I still learnt a lot about them, and enjoyed seeing the porpoise - which I had never seen before. Would love to come again and do this next time we are in Cornwall, who knows what we will see next time!!

Went out with Rory on 8 September 2012 with two friends and had a great afternoon with lots to see, basking sharks galore, bottle nose dolphins and porpoises. Been coming to Porthcurno for years but first time out on a boat. Really enjoyed the generous sharing of local and conservation knowledge that Rory was happy to provide. We had good weather, calm sea and lots of sharks. The rig was a great way to see the sharks without harassing or disturbing them.

Having been visiting Cornwall all my life this was my first sea safari on the south coast. What a brilliant day it was! Rory was an excellent guide and we were fortunate to see, amongst other varied wildlife, dolphins, sunfish and basking sharks, 16 of these!! The powerful rib meant we could cover a large area and track any sightings quickly. Although we were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife, we would still have found this trip immensely enjoyable anyway as the stunning coastline and Rory's knowledge of it was truly wonderful. We took our grown up children (18 and 21) with us and they absolutely loved it! Thanks Rory and will definitely be trying one of your snorkelling trips next year!!

Do not even hesitate, go straight for the Ocean Safari! Wrap up warm, take your waterproofs and have an amazing 3 hours. Rory is an excellent skipper and guide, spotting wildlife while explaining the importance of marine conservation. He is also an expert on coastal geology, local history and all the landmarks along this most beautiful of coastlines.

The longer length of the Ocean Safari allows time for a more detailed exploration of the coast in his powerful 12-seater RIB. Leaving Penzance, we went along the south coast past Mousehole, the Minack Theatre, out into the Atlantic around the dramatic Longships lighthouse, past Land's End and along the north coast to Cape Cornwall.

Wildlife isn't guaranteed but we soon started to pick up oceanic seabirds: gannets, fulmars, shearwaters, petrels and saw grey seals basking on the rocks. We were hoping to see basking sharks, even though they are not normally to be expected off Cornwall in late summer. Despite the grey day and sometimes lumpy seas, we had luck on our side and saw 11 basking sharks in total, 5 sunfish and a large school of harbour porpoises. The basking sharks came really close, near enough to see some of them swimming with their mouths wide open.

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. You never know what's out there. Rory said he'd spotted a minke whale earlier in the day. Bottlenose and common dolphins are frequently sighted and sometimes, if you're really lucky, fin whales.

In 2012, prices were £38 for adults and £32 for children up to age 15, which although is not the cheapest trip on offer does represent excellent value for money. I persuaded friends to join us on the trip, all of us with teenagers and despite being wet and cold, they all loved it. We would definitely go again. Thank you Rory.

A truly memorable trip. To get up close to these fantastical sea creatures was an unforgettable experience. We saw basking sharks, that Rory said were small at 2.5-7m but looked enormous to me!, a sun fish and we even glimpsed a turtle. Thanks to Rory who made it a fascinating 3+ hours that even held the interest of a 7 and 8 year old the whole time & who now want to go again! His links with local wildlife associations also meant that we got tipped of about sightings during our trip, so that he could photograph them to document individual shark movements. Still glowing from seeing the open mouth of a basking shark in the ocean in Cornwall!
