We are holidaying in Cornwall and fancied a go at fishing, the Wife and I and three kiddies - youngest 6. We'd looked up a company in advance and they were quite pricey and didn't get back to us. A quick search on the web revealed this company. A phone call got us in touch with a very friendly, helpful sounding lady and the booking was made. We arrived at the ticket office/shop and the same lady greeted us and showed us where to go. My youngest was given the important job of taking the Skippers lunch! We boarded the boat, where Adrian and his helper made us feel very welcome, plus he was glad to receive his lunch! We then set sail, about 30mins/3miles out and were all given our rods. A quick lesson and we were away, my 6yr old catching a shining mackeral in less than a minute. We sailed a few more times to get to the best shoal. The Skipper and his mate were very very friendly and helpful and great with kids, really encouraging them. Highly recommended!!! We would definately use this company again. Thanks Adrian!!

Mark Smith and family, Berkshire.

Last Friday was the first time I'd been Fishing on the "Mermaid II" for a couple of years and yet the Skipper, Adrian (aka. Bucket) and his Lady-Wife, Vanessa, remembered me and made my Chums and me very welcome.

A fantastic four hour Fishing-Trip off "Land's End" and we caught plenty. This set-up is 100% safe and "Ship-Shape" and a joy to be on board. I've been out on some right dodgy Boats in the past, when the Mermaid has been fully-booked, but with Adrian's history of working for "Trinity House" (Light Houses etc), it's an absolute "Pleasure Boat". Totally Safe, Spotlessly Clean, Up-to-the-Minute- Technology (Fish-Finders etc). very Friendly (for a Cornishman !) and Great Fun Catching Fish ! Thanks Guys.

We have two children aged 5&8 years our daughter is the eldest and mad about sharks, so on our trip to Cornwall (August 2012) we thought we would look up boat trips with possible shark sightings.

Most sea safaris were around 3/4hrs and for all of us £100+ then we came across these which looked to offer the same for £60ish so we gave them a call and they sounded great.

We went to Penzance were we checked in and paid at the office then got on the boat the captain and I think son were really friendly and funny and told stories of the places we visited and any sightings we had along the way we were encouraged to shout out so we could get closer for a look. Our first encounter was a sunfish jumping out the sea (we saw a few more on our travels) we then went around seal island were there we're a few Including their pups! The coast/cliff line and history was fantastic! Sailing into each harbour as we passed! At on point a crab pot he dropped in earlier was pulled up and everyone was able (if wanted to) to hold a crab! Kids (and grown ups) loved this. Then we reached lands end and traveled a few miles out to sea, with the assistance of a number of guest drivers :-) The waters did become quite exciting at times and all though my son struggles abit with sea Legs he was ok cuddling in and popping up to forget about it at any sightings. Once out in the sea i spotted a fin in the distance, as done previously, shouted it out to the captain and he quickly turned the boat to bring it in closer, we're we all met a huge basking shark! We couldn't believe our luck he was close enough to touch had the boat been lower! Then when turning to head back another appeared! After this we made tracks back and a very big storm cloud caught up with us but all the children got in the cabin and most adults under some shelter.

All in all it was an adventure we won't forget and thank mermaid for that and will visit again on our return! I think our youngest was as young as u would want to take them due to the length of the trip and possible sea sickness but we loved it! Even if we hadn't seen the shark it would still have been worth it!
