Excellent experience, only went in for drinks but it's amazing place. You feel like you are on a very old ship with many places to hide away.

If in Penzance and looking for a pint, then you could do a lot worse than popping in here. The interior is unique and completely wacky. Not to be missed for this experience alone!

Worth a visit just for the décor, but food is excellent with a good choice and reasonably priced. One of the best pub/restaurants in Penzance.

On June 8th this year my wife and I stopped in Penzance for lunch. We were fortunate enough to find the Admiral Benbow. We were greeted promptly and seated in a very private corner. The service and food were very good. The gem relates to the upstairs of the inn. It is decorated in nautical artifacts taken from real ships and shipwrecks. The upstairs took 3 years to be built and the Australian couple we met agreed with us that it was one of the fun spots we had seen in months. While you can have a very nice reasonably priced lunch, don't forget to go upstairs.

We were only passing this pub, and decided to pop in for food before going on a boating trip. So glad we did, it was like a pirate chest inside with very quirky decor and lots of different seating areas around every corner. There was so much to look at, and lots to take in, the kids loved it. We felt like we were on a ship, as everything was wooden, with dark corners lit with low hanging lamps. Service was prompt and the barman was very friendly and attentive. Did not know what to expect with the food, as we had passed a few bistro, trendy pubs earlier, but the food was really delicious. The batter on the fish was crispy and golden, and the fish was fresh and tasty.

I would recommend this pub if you are touring the area, even for a drink, as it is really quirky and so different from anywhere we had been before. The icing on the cake was lovely food as well. Makes a refreshing change from some of the other chain pubs with no character and no history.
