Having stayed in a too many holiday rentals that have been furnished as cheaply and tastelessly as can be imagined, it was a real pleasure to find the opposite! Tucked away in a quiet corner of Polperro, the house has been sympathetically and lovingly looked after. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, sofas. The outside terrace garden is lovely to sit in - a real sun trap. We could take our two dogs up on the coastal path in a couple of minutes form leaving the cottage. The coastal path is wonderful. We had 5 days of good weather out of six - not bad for an English coastal holiday - and swimming in various coves and bays en route to Polruan. Food at the Blue Peter and Three Pilchards pubs is highly recommended. A very nice 45 minute walk in an easterly direction takes you to the Talland Bay Hotel with a fantastic selection of English gins - taking minutes off the journey back ! Downsides? The noisy seagulls are ... noisy! And avoid the Chip Ahoy for fish and chips. Lovely holiday and cottage.
This is a fabulous cottage, so characterful. What was great was that it was so close to the harbour (less than a minutes walk)and yet tucked away so felt really private. We really enjoyed the pretty garden, which is right next to the river and sunny all day. We had our breakfast out there every morning. Bliss.
The bed was super comfortable, with lovely bedlinen. The kitchen was really well equipped, with good sharp knives- I usually find myself annoyed by blunt knives, but not here. We even made a huge roast!
We had the wood burner on a few nights, it was huge and really cosy. We loved sitting watching the fire with a glass of wine.
We had a really peaceful, relaxing holiday here, and we are planning on booking again.
