“Pleasant, not really as described in brochure.”

It was some time ago we stayed in this cottage & upon arrival, looked wonderful, however, for the price we would have expected better. Various notes were left around the property which is fine, but these were quite rude. We know Polperro very well & rang to ask about parking several weeks before we travelled & were assured parking was included in the price, when we arrived we were informed parking was extra, so as you can imagine we weren't very happy. Wouldn't return, have stayed in friendlier properties since.

Myself and my husband stayed in this beautiful cottage for a week in June, from the moment we arrived we fell in love with it and the location is unbeatable, the view from the main bedroom every morning was perfect and the living room situated at the top of the property has stunning views out to sea I never tired of sitting in the window seat and even though we had some rainy days it was a pleasure to spend time In this lovely property which is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need, the added bonus is the garden which again has stunning views out to sea a lovely place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings, Kelvin and his wife were on hand and most helpfull even when I enlisted there help to rescue a baby seagull in difficulty they were out in minutes to help I was very impressed, we will be returning to this special cottage highly recommended.

“Beautiful Cottage, great location, spectacular views!”

The cottage is cosy and warm with a working wood burner (great as we stayed in December). Everything you need is there, especially in the kitchen. The views over the harbour are fantastic! The cottage is literally in the heart of Polperro with great pubs and resturants within a very short walking distance, we had lunch and dinner at The Buccaneer and dinner also at The Blue Peter Inn and I can very highly recommend both! If like us you have kids and all the stuff they come with, I would recommend you book the luggage taxi (a quad bike with a trailer that can fit up the narrow alley ways and roads), you will be pleased that you did! (Kelvin will send you the details when you book the cottage). I have noticed a few people have been unkind on here and said the house was unclean. Having myself experienced owning and living in a 15th century cottage with a log burner, I would like to point out that dust and cobwebs are normal and impossible to remove from the house entirely! If you are OCD on a little bit of log burner generated dust then I would suggest you find a modern house to rent (although you will most certainly miss out on the character, history and experience that an old fishermans cottage has to offer).

“Charming cottage in an excellent location”

We stayed for four nights at Cobblestones and loved it. The owner sent us all the information we needed, and gave us a warm and friendly welcome when we arrived before leaving us to our own devices. The cottage is in the old part of the village which means there is no access by car, but the car park at the top of the hill is a short distance away and a luggage taxi is available. Such a central location means that everything is handy - shops, pubs, eating places, the harbour, cliff walks - and you get a feel for the atmosphere of the village. The cottage itself is on three floors with the large living room at the top so you get great views across the harbour and out to sea. It is cozy, well furnished and artfully decorated, with everything you could need to make it a home from home. If we return to Polperro we would want to stay here again.

“Best window seats in town!”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Cobblestones has the most super views of Polperro, you can watch the tide go in and out from bed. The kitchen is better stocked with cooking equipment than my own is. The dining room is compact but very cosy and has a lovely view. The lounge is a lovely big room with three different views, perfect for relaxing with the coolest stove in Polperro. We didn't have the weather to use the cliff top garden but it would be a real plus in the summer. The location of the house is perfect.

All our dealings went very smoothly. Kelvin was very helpful with instructions on how to get there and useful information. Cobblestones has everything you will need. We appreciated the garden and enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening with a glass of wine. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Music Festival was on the weekend we were there and walked the coastal path to Looe on a fine sunny day to see the festivities. I especially liked the sitting room and the great view.

We'd return to Cobblestones in a heartbeat. The lounge at the top of the house was the highlight with amazing views across the sea and harbour, great for watching the storms roll in (the weather wasn't kind). The owner has clearly put great care into furnishing and maintaining the cottage without ripping the soul out - essentially a lovely place to spend time which really added to our experience. And it's surprisingly roomy spread over three floors - plenty of spaces for our family of four to retreat. Special mention also to Kelvin, a true gent.
