Nothing was too much trouble in fact we stayed an extra night as we liked it so much...the hotel provides parking which is a big bonus in Polperro ... It was really great to see you again and with your twin it was like have two of you, really wonderful! Returning guests are a good indication that we are on the right path to having a successful business but apart from that we love to see familiar faces, more so really nice ones like yourself. Your are very generous with your words which is delightful to say the least. Arpi does occasionally escape the clutches of the "behind the scenes" work which is essential for the "front" to run smoothly. You are one of the few who have met him to prove that he does exist, :-) but he is always busy performing essential work for the hotel. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit you review and we are so happy to read that you will be returning again, also your twin, and we look forward to that very much. Kind regards, Carina Marta, Partner.

Just spent two nights as this hotel. Immediate plus is a car park opposite. We were in room 12 (The Crows Nest) basically the loft room. Bed was very comfortable, bed linen lovely and had a luxury feel. Room was spotless. Shower excellent. Room fully wood panelled, felt a bit like sleeping on a boat. Had a good nights sleep which is rare if I am travelling. Breakfast very good quality. Carina was absolutely lovely, works very hard and has a smile for everyone regardless of the time or how busy she is.
Only comments are toilet space very small in room, ok for me but partner struggled a bit as he is tall. Also would be nice to have a couple of biscuits to go with the tea/coffee in the room. Room was ideal for couples or singles, but not for children or the elderly due to the steps. Apart from that brilliant and would recommend as a lovely friendly place to stay.

We really appreciate you taking the time and trouble in submitting your review and we thank you very much for this and your very kind words. The room you stayed in is very popular with guests but you are correct it can be a little uncomfortable for very tall people and we will make such a remark on our Websites. All your comments, also from other reviews, are carefully considered and where practical and cost effective then changes are implemented. We thank you again for staying with us and for your review and especially your recomendation which helps our business to grow. We hope that you will stay with us again. Thank you very much for your review and your very kind words, it makes us very happy to read such reviews, just the tonic that sometimes tired and stressed owners need! We really enjoy our work and even the long hours it entails, we just want our guests to be happy and satisfied with their stay and do not expect praise. However when it comes in the form of a review it makes our day so thank you very much for that. It also pleases us very much when guest say they will return, it really means that they enjoyed their stay. Looking forward to your next visit. Kind regards, Carina Marta, Partner.

Just came back from our second stay at the Claremont we first stayed in March this year, both for 1 night stays. This is a lovely quaint hotel and the decor in fitting with the surroundings. We stayed in room 8 this time and preferred this to room 6 where we stayed the first time. The room was lovely and clean. The Manager is lovely very welcoming and can not do enough for you, she's always smiling and even offers to carry your luggage up the stairs for you. Again breakfast was lovely, if not a little early for us! I'm on holidays and would have liked a slightly longer lie in :) any chance breakfast could be extended? The hotel has a car park which you can continue to use after check out which is at 10am. My only complaint was that the wifi seemed to be playing up and with no telephone signal with O2 in the village we relied on the signal at the hotel to contact family back home. Polperro is a lovely quaint fishing village and my partner and I love visiting, we will definitely be back to Polperro and the Claremont :)

That you so much for your review and also for returning to stay with us again so soon after you previous stay in March. We note that you prefer our front facing rooms to the rear facing room that you previously stayed in. By booking early guests have a much better chance of getting their preferred room but many guests request a rear facing room and for that we are extremely grateful so that we can oblige our guests request and at the same time increase our occupancy. Regarding breakfast, this is somewhat difficult to alter. Over the years we have set the breakfast time to suit the majority and to extend the serving time would mean having to employ extra staff as otherwise it would delay the room servicing and this would increase costs and subsequently also the room rate. Rooms have to be serviced in time for arriving guests. In these strained economic times we believe, and according to all hotel tourist support information, that keeping the room rate as low as possible is one of the most important items according to surveys that have been carried out. We note what you say about the WiFi and we have had many engineers visit to try to solve this particular problem which seems to be the thick hotel walls in addition to a sometimes poor main connection. However a reasonable good signal can usually be obtain in the hotel lounge. Only Orange Mobile Network is available in the village at present. We are very pleased to read that you and your partner love visiting Polperro and you will again be staying at our hotel and we look forward to your next visit. Kind regards, Carina Marta, Partner

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to the Claremont Hotel The Claremont Hotel is a privately owned and family run hotel centrally positioned in the heart of Polperro, offering very comfortable accommodation, and less than three minutes walk from what is probably the prettiest fishing harbour in south east Cornwall, if not in the whole county. The Claremont Hotel faces south overlooking the valley and rooftops, and is ideally positioned for a short walk to all the village attractions and facilities. The hotel and its accommodation has been modernised so that our guests enjoy the comfort that is expected these days, yet it still retains its character, as parts of the hotel date back to the17th century, when it was most probably a fisherman's cottage. Please note that the Hotel does not have views over the harbour. With effect from 1st June 2016 Introducing a new concept in providing low cost accommodation. Bed and Breakfast is being replaced by Bed on a Budget. Breakfast will not be served and will not be available. A saving on up to £20 per night over the previous Tariff. A cooked breakfast is becoming a thing of the past as people are becoming more health conscious but when available, as on holiday, it tends to be eaten as it is included in the price. Also it is tempting to remain in bed so either forego the lie in or get up for breakfast. Now you can stay in bed as long as you wish knowing that you have already made a saving on not having breakfast. Further savings have been made by reducing the amount of room service normally provided. In effect all this means is that we no longer change bed sheets and towels on a daily basis, however the bathmat will be changed each day, tea/coffee/milk will be topped up and your waste bin will be emptied each day. For stays of one week or more a full room service and change of bedding, towels etc will be carried out after 3 or 4 days at managers discretion. We have also reduced the reception hours and we no longer accept check-ins after 6.30pm and if guests do not arrive by 7pm the booking is classed as a no show and therefore cancelled. These cost savings in laundry, wages and materials are part of the cost reduction that Bed on a Budget is able to provide guests and the saving can enhance your holiday experience by using these cost savings as you wish. Children under the age of six years are not normally accepted ... more   less
