We have been staying at Killigarth almost every year since 1995 (before John Fowler), so we have seen some changes over the years. I don't normally do negative reviews as I try to think "maybe it was just a bad time" BUT this year well the cleanliness of the van could have been better. I contacted John Fowler and the reply was, "your comments have been passed to housekeeping". Since then, NO REPLY!

Don't get me wrong, this site is in a fantastic location, but I think that John Fowler are taking advantage of this. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER JOHN FOWLER AND GET THIS SITE BACK TO HOW GOOD IT USED TO BE!

Hello Colleen

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience at our holiday park. We certainly do not ignore any constructive criticism and perhaps there are some areas that could be improved in the interest of future guests.

Thankfully, poor reviews are few and far between and we have the satisfaction of knowing that last year well over 50,000 families enjoyed a John Fowler Holiday at our 14 holiday parks.

Your comments have been passed on to all departments and we really hope that you will visit us again in the near future

I've been to Killigarth twice and absolutely love it, although I have stayed in "the Valley" not on the main site so can't comment on that.

I should have gone to Killigarth again this month, but I went to a Haven site instead and had a speed bump outside my door and huge HGV delivery lorries thundering over it from 7am. Never again! I'm back to Killigarth next time!

In the valley at Killigarth, the view is to die for, its quiet and relaxing, and the caravans are top notch. The shop isn't open all day, but you soon get used to its opening times, and the staff seem to do lots of different jobs while keeping a smile on their faces. The "Internet cafe" is expensive, but who wants to go on holiday and spend a lot of time on the computer!?!

Killigarth I'LL BE BACK! :-)

Room Tip: The Valley for peace and quiet, and a fantastic view.

Platinum caravan couldn't fault it valley view was amazing we have been her a few times over the years... But the swimming pool itself needs updating and the changing rooms... Tennis court needs the fencing replacing john fowler needs to look at the overall of the site not just the caravan...but we did enjoy it one thing we were concernd about is a cat called Dexter according to the advert by the bins the owners said he is microchipped and state we don't feed him as he will never go home he was constantly outside our caravan wanting to come in too... We didn't feed him but felt guilty it would be nice to know the owners are actually seeing and feeding him as it would put my mind at rest and my children's.

Room Tip: Choose platinum on valley view

Hello Sue

What a wonderful review, thank you, we really appreciate it. Your praise will mean so much to the management and staff at the park. They all work extremely hard to make everyone’s stay enjoyable.

Please don't worry about Dexter the cat, he is far more intelligent than people give him credit for. He is a well-known local character who befriends anyone who will feed him. During the summer months he likes to dine out on a varied diet, but when the park is closed, he goes back home for his Whiskas and a warm hearth.

Review of Polperro Caravan Site (Killigarth Manor)

Caravan site
I am going to start off with the caravan that we stayed in, the caravan itself was big with 2 large bedrooms and a double room. The cleanliness of the caravan was in very bad condition, The curtails were falling down.
The kitchen was filthy, there was stale bread behind the microwave and the glasses and plates were not clean.
The bed under the sofa had urine stains on it and the mattress was ripped.

The holiday Camp, Food and Entertainment
The holiday camp was great to walk around and look at the views, there was a brilliant pool there, mini golf and a playground. The Holiday camp is more for families that have younger kids maybe aged 5+. I was 15 when i went to this Holiday camp, i did not enjoy it one bit, there was no entertainment for me when i went there, I could only play on the fruit machines or play a kids game called ‘Whack A Rabbit’.
There was no Entertainment for Teenagers aged 15-17, except from Table Tennis or Mini golf. The mini golf course was in a really bed condition, it was not even fun.
If a teenager like me wanted to have fun, they would have to visit a place called ‘looe’ or the village of ‘polperro’.

The Food at the holiday camp was just a fish and chip shop that served Great food, but the opening times of the shop was really bad. They would open lunch time and would open at night but only till 11 o’clock. The main place the Entertainment only went onto 11 o’clock at night, if you are on holiday you are wanting to have late nights out enjoying yourself, but all you could do after 11 is go back to your caravan and watch tv. So it felt like you was back at home watching tv.
The Brochure that we got had all the wrong information that lied in the pamphlet, also the website. They had no opening and closing times on for the Entertainment, other reviews of people that had visited the caravan site. They said they had great entertainment, but did not put down for what ages.
If i was you and you have a family with older children aged between 14-17, i would not recommend this holiday park.

Hello Cameron

It was such a shame to read your remarks regarding your stay at our holiday park last year. It was obvious from your comments that the Holiday Park was not to your taste. I am sorry you feel that way, but since so many of our returning guests love it the way it is, we are unlikely to make any major changes in the near future, other than our usual ongoing programme of improvements.

If you read the other reviews posted about this holiday park you will see that the majority of people had a totally different experience.

We booked a mid week break here for its location, it is ideally situated between Looe & Polperro for the cliff walking. We were very lucky with the weather as this makes everything much better,
The staff on arrival were great, polite & chatty, caravan was ready 15minutes earlier than the 4pm key collection time. It was exceptional, better than I had expected, having read some very negative reviews, in fact this is the most modern budget caravan we have stayed in in over 15 year of holidays spotlessly clean, very comfortable full size double bed, big flat screen tv, full central heating & large bathroom. The site of the caravan is great overlooking the valley, the only sounds, sheep in the nearby field & birds in the trees. So relaxing.
The club house had rather low key entertainment but we choose quiet sites as we do not want loud & lively + screaming kids. It is clean & looks newly painted. As the evenings were so mild it was nice to have a large well tended garden with so many benches to enjoy a drink outside.
I can not comment on any of the other facilities as we never used them. I was impressed with the recycling facilities as many parks still don't do enough.
For a relaxing break in a stunning location this site is one of the very best, I am sure that we will return again in the very near future.

Hello Anne

Thank you very much for leaving us such a fantastic review, we really appreciate it. Your comments have been passed to all departments.

As you say, the park does not deserve poor reviews and thankfully they are few and far between. We simply do not understand why some people choose to post them, when all the staff work really hard to make everyone feel welcome, as you experienced. However, we are all individuals and we can all have vastly different opinions on the same subject.

I am delighted to hear that you had a great time. Our returning customers are very important to us and we look forward to welcoming you again very soon.

We had a platinum caravan in the Valley field. It was very peaceful and the most amazing views.
The caravan was tip top and had everything we needed. It was spotless and clean, and although we arrived 90 minutes early it was ready for us.
The clubhouse could do with a lick of paint, but it serves its purpose and was nice to go down to in the evenings. The drinks are reasonably priced, and Simeon on the bar is great and very polite and nice.
The real gem here is the kids club. We stayed a week and our 3.5yr son went every night. Budgie Bev and Stripey Ellen were excellent! They kept the kids entertained with dancing and games, and they played outside too as it was good weather - 10/10 to these guys for their hard work - would book again here just for this reason.
The pool was shut for repair on the day we arrived so we were offered to use the pool at the sister site 2 minutes drive away. What a result! There was indoor and outdoor swimming, and it was as warm as a bath, and there was a water slide! We did use Killigarths pool too and found this to be fine - the water pressure wasn't very high in the shower but that's not a complaint.
We played crazy golf a few times, and played in the kids play area too.
My only slight disappointment was the menu in the take away - it was very 'chips, chips, chips!' but having said that they were very nice chips and all the food was delicious - I would just like a healthy eating option!

All in all we had an excellent holiday and will definitely visit again!

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review.

Your comments have been passed to all departments, especially the housekeeping team, who will be delighted to hear your thoughts on the cleanliness of the caravan.

Once again our entertainments team have been singled out for extra praise and there is no doubt that they deserve it. They are all doing a brilliant job this year and work extremely hard to ensure everyone has a great holiday.

Our returning customers are so important to us and regularly make up 50% of our visitors. We look forward to welcoming you again very soon.

This review is very disappointing and should be the the subject of a thorough investigation, but unfortunately, when I contacted the reviewer, my invitation for co-operation was declined.

With regard to the departure time it is a shame that the reviewer missed that vital bit of information, although it is clearly stated in our brochure, on the website and in the handbook given on arrival. Had this been read, further upset would have been avoided.

I hope that anyone reading this response will give us the benefit of the doubt.
