“Great location, poor caravan”
Reviewed 10 September 2010

Erm this is a tricky review to write as we had a fabulous holiday in Cornwall and liked the site, it slocations and the low key atmosphere and the great guy who runs the entertainment .

The caravan itself was a huge disappointment. We have holidayed in caravans many times and being an ex travel agent i have travelled a lot and this is the first holiday when as soon as we walked in, I rang reception and asked to be moved! Unfortunately the site was full so this was not possible.

Had to do own cleaning on arrival as i not sure who had cleaned it, but it was nowhere near standard and this caravan was tatty ( this was their second most expensive grade) and things were broken. These were repaired admittedly but this was a well used old fashioned caravan which felt damp at times as the windows didnt shut properly (amongst other things)

But you have to make the best of a bad job so we were out all day every day so spent little time in it and as previously said this is a fabulous area and the site itself offered just enough for our needs. Pool opening hours were great, the guy who runs the kids club in the morning and the entertainment at night was good .

Would we go back? Yes but only in their first grade caravans.

Best things, talland bay, walks along south west coast path, buses to and from polperro and looe right outside site, fowey (wow) lots of things to see and do, not enough days to cram it all in.

This site could be amazing(viewes spectacular), ditch some of those grubby caravans and you would be there!!

the site is small and well kept. The chalet we stayed in was clean and comfortable although some of the furniture, particularly the fold out dining table, looked as though it had seen a few years service. the equipment was also basic but adequate.
my 2 boys aged 10 and 11 enjoyed the kids entertainment and bingo as well as the playground and swimming pool.
the staff were all very friendly and helpful and at only £254 for the week it was definatley good value for money.

Im wondering if some folk fancy a week at the ritz without splashing the cash?! this park is very well priced and is value for money. pros:- friendly and helpful staff, efficient team, fabulous setting overlooking Talland Bay, well maintained and clean site, no over the top 'rules' like bigger companies. worth the money undoubtedly.
cons- caravan could have been cleaner, but I must say that most caravans I have ever stayed in also could have been cleaner, im sure that if id spoken to staff about this it would have been recleaned, we needed our electricity putting back on and extra bedlinen and this was sorted immediately. I recommend the jubilee caravan with a nice verandah overlooking talland bay. allowed to check in approx 4 hours early so didnt complain about caravan not being perfectly clean. i would recommend site and will def return

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We do appreciate your comments. We are sorry if the caravan wasn't as clean as it could have been, but as you said, we would happily have re-cleaned for you if asked. Unfortunately not all of our staff are as conscientious as we would like. We hope to see you here again soon.

Despite the worst weather we have ever encountered during a holiday in England, we still managed to enjoy our stay at Seaview. The bungalow, as always, was clean and comfortable, and the staff this year were better than ever. We were really saddened to hear about the death of Dill, but Captain Crumble was a great replacement. How does he remember everyones' name? The entertainment was brill. It was nice to see lots of familiar faces - James in the pool, the lady in the shop (don't know her name - sorry), and the lady in reception and the bar staff, though mostly new, were brilliant this year. Loved the food. The complex and grounds were really tidy and were well looked after. Seaview is a great place for visiting south-east cornwall and I would recommend it to anyone. But if you want a huge big site, with all day entertainment, this is not what Seaview is about. Its fun, friendly and a great place to stay. See you next year.

Returned from sea view yesterday, site in a great location with lovely views over Talland bay if you have elevated caravan.Very near lovely Polperro we know and love.Great position for touring the area.
CARAVAN.We had a crown caravan the most basic, booked 10 days before the holiday.Great elevated view.
Was a bit concerned reading other reviews before we left.On arrival there were many fag butts at the bottom of the steps and around caravan this is disgusting and made me gag before i even entered the caravan, there is no excuse not to clear these up before new guests arrived,my husband did the deed of clearing them away.
INSIDE CARAVAN: Not as bad as i expected, although went round with dettox and freebreeze, but on closer inspection under the bed was full of dust and the door floor panels dirty.Very small shower, fine for us but if you were a little on the heavier side would find it a squeeze, varying temp too had to keep fiddling with hot and cold taps.
Good lot of equipment, glad i took a sharp paring knife, toilet paper, own towels etc.
RECEPTION.Very friendly and helpful, lady in shop was nice too.Thankyou to them.
SWIMMING POOL:Enjoyed a regular swim with the family, life guard on duty but their full attention was not always on the pool,at one stage one lad was organising a cheap flight!!.Changing rooms dirty in places.
ENTERTAINMENT:Bar and area quite nice, never ate there as put off from review of food poising from a chicken curry.Never stayed for bingo etc my boys loved kids entertainment.
CHILDRENS ENTERTAINER;my two boys ages 8 and 7 thought he was great,he was full of enthuisam and very friendly but felt at times the things he said to them was a bit in appropriate,ie my son won a golf set and he told him to hit his mum with it if she misbehaved ,not something i would say,and i have got a sense of humour!!!.
OVERALL CLEANLINESS;I visited the reception on a couple of occasions and each time new arrivals were there complaining about damp chalets and unacceptional poor cleanliness on thier arrival.I cant understand how the management does not get the cleanliness side of things up to scratch,it could be such a nicer site if the dampness of the chalets and more importantly the cleanliness much improved, there is no excuse for this as on change over days there were many cleaneres going around, they need to do a better job.
COASTAL WALK:Walk to Talland bay lovely but not for the faint hearted, especially the long climb back up.Walked to Polperro on the coastal walk this was lovely.Chris Evans Radio 2 was doing his breakfast show from a nearby field to the camp site overlooking TallandBay,but competion winners only invited, shame i soo wanted to go.
OVERALL:We had a good week,it was a extra week as we had as we had our main holiday in far away shores in July.Ok for a base, not as a main holiday.Beautiful surrounding areas to visit.Would not return until the whole site was cleaner,by the way a am in no way a cleanliness freak but like some standards

Thank you for taking the time to submit such a comprehensive review. We are glad you had a good week with us and enjoyed your stay .We will take all your comments on board to see how we can improve things for future visitors.
We apologise for the cigarette ends outside of your caravan - this should have been reported by our cleaners and tidied up. If you had mentioned it to reception, we would have dealt with it - we don't expect our guests to have to do these things. Same the previous occupant didn't use an ashtray.
I am sorry you were put off sampling our food because of the comments made by a previous reviewer. We serve hundreds of people each week and no-one else has mentioned any problems - in fact most guest are very complimentary about the food we serve.
The lifeguards will be reminded of the importance of their job and the need to be constantly vigilant.
I would like to point out that we are a self-catering holiday park and therefore we do not supply things like toilet paper, soap and towels - most other parks are the same.
As mentioned before, the bungalows themselves are not damp. The problems arise due to lack of ventilation. When guests are cooking, showering, boiling kettles etc a lot of moisture is produced in a small area and if windows aren't opened, or extractors used, the moisture has no where to go and it will eventually sit on the furniture and furnishing, make them smell and feel damp. Perhaps we need to stress this more strongly to our guests. It is surprising how reluctant people are to open windows.
We do hope you will come back to Seaview again.

Just got back yesterday from a week in at Seaview, and can I say what a lovely park it is. Didnt want to come home. The facilities were all very good, the pool was fab, we enjoyed twice daily swimming splash sessions with the children, pool attendants very friendly. Although my children didnt participate in the day time Captain Crumble event, my eldest boy , 4, really enjoyed the evening kids session before the caberet/bingo. Captain Crumble (didnt know his real name), is excellent with the kids, and seems to remember each of the kids names too. Enjoyed by all. Fun kids events/competitions. Nightly bingo enjoyed every evening we were there, and even won a game last sunday. Excellent prize money too. Accommodation, although a little dated, and some tatty bits here and there, was comfortable and no frills. Only gripe, no baby changing facilities in the toilets in the bar/restaurant area, which resulted in me taking baby back to caravan in the evenings for a nappy change. thats my one and only gripe. Im sorry if there was baby changing facilities on site, I just didnt see them. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Will definately come to this park again.

Thanks for taking the time to let other know how much you enjoyed your holiday. We really do appreciate your kind comments. We do hope you will come back again - just to let you know, the baby changing facilities in the swimming pool changing rooms/toilets are avaiable throughout the evening - via the door in the back part of the bar.
