“Just beautiful - wonderful stay”
Reviewed 25 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

I so enjoyed the stay. The farm is so beautiful and peaceful. I could just sit and listen to the wind and faintly hear the sheep sometimes. The owners were very responsive to any questions or requests. Also, when I arrived, there was a delicious, homemade Victoria sponge cake - my first :). Thank you, Angela and Phil. I hope to return soon!

“Week at Wheel Lodge Port Isaac”
Reviewed 25 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Excellent location, excellent cottage, excellent fixtures and fittings. Could not fault anything. Greeted with a home made sponge on arrival from the owners which was most welcome after a long journey.
We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

“Very comfortable, great location”

We've stayed at Wheel Lodge for 5 nights & we've been very comfortable indeed. It is all as described. My only suggestion would be that a drying rack be put in the cottage as it is difficult to get clothes dry if the weather is showery. PHIL is very helpful though & did give us a small rack & offered to put our clothes in the dryer.
We're not used to such narrow roads & found driving on them scary at first but we got used to them & it is easy to drive into Port Isaac. There's a pay car park on the way in & it is free after 18:00 if you want to go in for dinner.
It would be great to have instructions for the heater & the hot water.
It's a great place from which to explore Cornwall.

Narrow roads, yes all part of Cornish charm and heritage in our lovely part of the world.

“Great for visiting Port Isaac”

Wheel Lodge is the smallest of 3 rental units created from a re-purposed farm building on a working farm. If you book one of these units, you will be sleeping surrounded by coastal pastures where Phil's cows and sheep graze. Phil grew up on the farm and still lives right across the drive from the rental units. You can usually find him if you need any help or advice. He will also give you a tour of the barns so you can meet the animals. The lodge is well equipped with a full kitchen in a multipurpose room with TV, love seat, and dining table and chairs. The round table is large, so you can spread your maps and guide books out. The lodge is nicely decorated with fresh light paint, lots of dark wood, and attractive fabrics. The bed is comfortable. There is a wardrobe with a number of wooden hangers, and you will find a good hairdryer in the top drawer of one of the 2 nightstands. There are many light fixtures, including lights good for reading in bed. The bedroom, main room, and large bathroom are separate -- the bathroom across the back hall from the other rooms. If you have large suitcases, you could store them in that hall. The bathroom is large, and the shower is great (very powerful). All the rooms have very wide window sills that provide space to spread out possessions. There is a full-length mirror in the bedroom. If you are there in cold weather, there are modern radiators in each room. The heat seems to be on a timer. If the timing doesn't suit you, I'm sure that Phil will adjust it. Due to the cool weather, we kept all the windows closed and slept really well in the quiet. There is a car park and little garden out back with a small table and chairs where you could eat in summer. Until we visited Lanhydrock, I did not know that the cake that Angela makes for all the guests is a traditional Victoria Sponge (I think). We ate some every day for breakfast. She also provides a small jug of milk. You can walk to Port Isaac from Higher Hendra -- either by the road or the footpath, though the road would probably be dangerous in high season. Angela was immediately responsive to my questions via email. We had a wonderful stay at Wheel Lodge and hope to return in the future.

“gorgeous area”
Reviewed 29 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Wheel Lodge would have been more comfortable for just 2 people. We booked for 3 and with the extra cot it was very crowded. Also, there was minimal soap, towels, kitchen supplies etc. We were only there for 3 nights but didn't realize we should have brought EVERYTHING necessary for the bathroom and kitchen.
But other then that, the place was cozy and quiet. The location in Cornwall was great, so much to see in that area, Loved Port Isaac!

Thank you for your review. As you were aware Wheel Lodge is for 2 people. I obliged your request after your confirmed booking to add a guest bed (not a cot) for your adult son which was an addition which I did not make an extra charge for including extra bedding and towels. You would have also had tea towels, oven gloves, washing up liquid, pepper and salt also hand soap in shower room was provided. A welcome gift of milk and biscuits were also supplied.

“Delightful cottage in a countryside and coastal location”
Reviewed 15 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Delightful well presented cottage with nice double aspect bedroom, adequate lounge diner and kitchen area, and large bathroom, which has a large shower. Also a back lobby with back door to car parking.
Property was well maintained and equipped, and we were not disappointed when we arrived to find the delicious 'Victoria sandwich cake'!
To get to Port Isaac you can either go by coastal path or by a bus which stops at the back of the property. This service connects Wadebridge and Camelford and we used it to go to the delightful village of Rock, which then connects to Padstow via a ferry.
