We arrived in the village of Port Isaac just hoping to walk around where Doc Martin was filmed, when we noticed a sign that informed us if a guided tour! This was the best tour! You meet John at the May Contain Nuts shop & he takes you as a group on a walking tour of the village. He gives an insight into all things Doc Martin but also tells a lot about village life, the history & his own family! A thoroughly enjoyable tour which enhanced our visit tenfold!! Thanks John!!

I was looking forward to a guided tour of the Doc Martin locations, but when John learned I was just there on my own, he told me today's tour had just finished and he was not going out again for just one person - even though I told him I had come all the way from Australia and was only here for the day. He just laughed and suggested I ask the other two men in the shop, who had just finished his last tour, to give me a rundown on things. Not happy!

We stayed in Port Isaac last October 2013. We rented Lundy Cottage for four nights and we are still talking about the experince we had living in the village. Yes, we are Doc Martin fans. It is the village and the people that made our visit so enjoyable. It was the trip of a life tme for us.We
took John Browns tour and he told us so much about the village that we would have never known if we didn't. You actually go back in time visiting the village. The people can't do enough for you. Also take a Taxi ride to Tintagel where the wedding scene takes Place in Doc Martin. Beautiful scenery and legends await! You must go!

Just because you are born somewhere does not necessarily make you an expert guide. To his credit, guide John Brown not only was born and reared in a Port Isaac fishing family, but he has gained the knowledge, along with his fun personality, to make him a terrific host of this charming village. We loved our 1.5 hour with him and learned so much about the history of the area along with the backdrop to one of our favorite shows - Doc Martin. Walking is the only way this tour can be done. John's rate was reasonable and well worth it. It made our time in this now-famous town come alive!!

We have just returned from Port Isaac today having taken Johns tour. We arrived in Port Isaac around 1pm and went to the May Contain Nuts shop where you get in touch with John and was advised he was out and about and that he normally does the tours around 11.30am. However we went to have lunch in the Krab Cafe (which is also excellent) and John took the bother to come and find us. There were 4 of us and it was a pretty cold and wet afternoon but from the moment the tour started we were taken in by Johns wit and humour and genuine love of Port Isaac, the history of the buildings, the fishing community and of course the filming of Doc Martin. Our tour was over the hour and a half as we were asking so many questions and having such a laugh with him. It honestly and truly has to be the best £10 we have ever spent. I would advise anyone going to Port Isaac they must, must must not miss Johns tour!
