We stayed at The Longcross to attend a wedding. The views are beautiful and we could not fault that. Also a nice little play area for children to play in.

Unfortunately the same could not be said for the guest rooms. The rooms are a good size. We stayed in a family room as we have a young child and needed a pull out bed. The room rate was £150 per night and we had to pay an extra £30 per night for the foldaway bed which we thought was excessive as the room is already at an additional premium price because it is a larger room. For £180 per night, we expected 4* quality but the room was dusty, a mish mash of furniture /ornaments and wires and routers exposed and left lying on the floor - not ideal with small children.

We were even more disappointed with the bathroom which was small and very basic with dirty carpet and mildew around the old shower and bath. We felt for the price, the hotel should use better amenities in the bathroom instead of the very 'economy' ones you might find in a 2* star hotel.

Breakfast was very nice with a lovely helpful lady serving us. Breakfast timing a little rigid from 8.30 - 9.30am. The hotel manger was very pleasant at check in and at the bar. The housekeeping lady was also very polite and pleasant and did wait for us to get ready for the wedding before cleaning our room.

I'm sorry to have to give this hotel a poor review. We have stayed in many beautiful hotels around the world and feel this hotel could do with some TLC from the owners or the room rate should be reduced so future guests aren't disappointed with what they get. The view from our friends who also stayed at the hotel was mutual.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a four poster bed but very run down bathroom

Longcross is just outside Port Isaac, and slightly inland, and I'd not have thought have staying here when visiting as didn't know It existed. Found this gem on Trip Advisor as all other hotels in Port Isaac were booked. James sorted our rooms for us when we arrived and very kindly upgraded us from two rooms to a suite in the Coach House, at no extra charge. Brilliant as we are a family of four so were all together had plenty of space. Our two boys were thrilled to have their own sitting room! Amazing views from a lovely large and modern drinks terrace, though the hotel itself is old and charming; it used to be a "gentlemans house", according to James. Port isaac is a lovely 30 min walk through fields on a public footpath. Definately worth a visit, just glad we found it on trip advisor!

The hotel has A wonderful view over the coastline. The walks Downs to port Isaac and port quinn are great and so Worth the effort. Food is Nice, rooms good size and has comfy beds. The hidden treasure is the garden...We all enjoyed that!

A beautiful Victorian building with so many original features such as the main staircase, fireplaces etc, and furnishings in keeping with such a delightful hotel. The garden has been beautifully restored and is a beautiful peaceful place for a stroll. There are stunning views from the dining room, and the terrace where you can enjoy an evening glass or two.We also enjoyed this view from our room.We didn't eat there but the menu reads well and what we saw being served looked excellent. All staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were superb. The hotel is situated in the quiet and secluded village of Trelights near St Endellion. It is easy to find and not far from Rock on the Camel Estuary. We shall most certainly return. Thanks for a delightful short stay.

The hotel is in a stunning location, great for all of what North Cornwall has to offer.
The hotel is like a modernised old country house, all the delights of an older property with the modern touches you would expect, with each room with its own quirks.
Within the setting is a Victorian garden and our favourite room is actually within this garden, the "love shack" - its like staying in a country cottage, away from everything except the best breakfast is only a few yards away.
Each year for 8 years we have made the longcross our long weekend retreat and it has always been a fantastic cornwall time.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and there is the relaxed cornwall life for you to enjoy and wallow in.
We haven't unfortunately always been able to have our favourite room, but we have always been accommodated well as more latterly have our 2 dogs.
Don't have expectations - just enjoy the stay.........
The proof of the pudding is that each year we look around for another place to stay and always end up booking Longcross. This year we didn't bother looking elsewhere...........
The one downside - don't expect much phone signal !

WE stayed for 4 nights in June 2014. Fabulous location with the most incredible views of the surrounding countryside down to the sea. Slight downside of the location is that the reason the views are so great is that the hotel is it is it is fairly remote from local amenities - no pubs/restaurants within realistic walking distance unless you are as sure footed as a goat! So a car is essential for getting around. For exploring the local area by car it is as well placed as any and plenty of parking at the hotel

We took a walk down to Port Isaac on our first night - a VERY steep walk down, we certainly didn't fancy the walk back up, but were warned taxis .are very hard to come by. So, when we arrived at the pub restaurant, we asked the manager if he could try and order us a taxi for 10pm. Fortunately for us, this worked and we didn't have to walk back up. The rest of our stay, we drove and saved the drinking for when we got back to the hotel.

The house itself is great with lots of original features - some amazing stained glass windows. The games room with pool table and dartboard was an added bonus. The room are all different with great character. We were in room 6 on the second floor of the main house. The bed was huge and very comfortable, the bathroom was a little tired but spotlessly clean. The only downside was that there was a heatwave whilst we were there and it got very hot - no aircon in a quirky victorian house, but honestly it never occurred to me we might need aircon in the UK!. We did ask for a fan, but not until our last day and stressed it was not a priority. James the extremely helpful manager said he would try and get us one. He couldn't find one just then, but I'm confident had we stayed any longer he would have got one.

Staff were all great, breakfast was very good indeed, we had a perfectly pleasant if not exceptional meal in the restaurant on one night. Overall we had an extremely relaxing stay. Would go back.

Room Tip: Room 6 on second floor can be hot in summer, but quieter as at top of the hotel.

I am astounded that this is not a destination hotel. Stunning location overlooking the sea and the rolling hills down I to Port Izaac. Booked two rooms but were upgraded to a family suite at NO extra cost. The terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside is amazing. Can't fault it!

Room Tip: Go for room 20 in the Coach House
