Stayed here on a shearings short midweek break, and really enjoyed the experience, the hotel is showing it,s age and a little tired in places, but is being upgraded little by little. However what we did get was excellent service,a cosy warm room,a nice warm bathroom, lovely food with lots of choice, fun entertainment in the evening, and attentive and helpful staff.[Laura and her restaurant staff are to be applauded, they work really hard,we thank them for all their efforts]

Overall Shearings gave us a wonderful time, and we have nothing but praise for all involved,as already stated the hotel is showing it,s age a little, but you will have a good stay there if you are prepared to enjoy yourself and overlook decor, there,s lots of positives too.

Loved St Ives and Cornwall in general, yes i would go back, and to St Ives Bay Hotel

Thank you for taking the time to compliment the staff on their efforts as I feel that it is them that make a holiday. From Bella and her team in the dining room , Clive and the kitchen team, Donna and the room attendants, Laura who is just about everywhere to the night porters and reception the staff all play their part.
There is a major refurbishment programme due to start at the end of this year on all public areas and further rooms are planned, so exciting times ahead.
Please come back and see for yourself the changes.

We have family in St Ives and it costs more to come on our own booking a hotel in St Ives so we have come with Shearings the last two years and haven't been disappointed. The location is superb food really good value all in all well worth coming. The only downside was such a long journey we got picked up at 9.52 to arrive at neally 6.30. Going back started at 7 30 getting back to Dudley after 5.00 pm. All in all value for money providing you don't mind long journey.

We were on a Shearings break at £139.99 per person for transport, two included outings, entertainment each night, half board with English breakfast and four free drinks on "Gala Night". This is the background and, especially in this light, it was fantastic value. We were in a recently refurbished room, simply but pleasantly and more than adequately appointed, big enough to accommodate two single beds, a small table with two chairs and a further chair at a dressing table. The beds were very comfortable. The public areas were quite spacious, not luxuriously done up but wholly up to the standard that the hotel honestly depicts. The entertainment was quite good and almost without exception the staff were pleasant and helpful, although I think that a lot were foreign. The food was adequate in the light of what we paid, especially the breakfast which was actually pretty good. The drink in the hotel was not cheap but no worse, I suppose, than what you expect in an expensive tourist honeypot like St Ives and you will find a Wetherspoons about five or six minutes away downhill - it is coming back up hill that is the problem!. The hotel is extremely well situated for the centre of St Ives and the bus station (don't forget to bring your bus pass!) is about 3 or 4 minutes away downhill. All in all - and particularly bearing in mind what we paid - we were thoroughly satisfied and would recommend. this Shearings break and, indeed the hotel.

Room Tip: Seek a refurbished room.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I do agree that value for money is exactly what we offer.
We have had a number of rooms refurbished this January as we did last January too, This year the company are refurbishing the public areas and the plans that have been put forward are just great. This will happen towards the back end of the year. We are all looking forward to that happening.
I hope that you will visit St Ives Bay again.

we have just returned from a weekend break with shearings the hotel was old but very clean and welcoming our bags were taken to our room and the service at meals was very swift and efficient, the gala meal wasn't very special but the included drinks helped the lady entertainer on sunday was very good and appealed to the very varied age range we went on this trip expecting little due to low cost but returned looking for another shearings break

We are currently running mid week and weekend celebration breaks which means that on one evening there is a gala dinner and four drinks included for that day. Great value for money I think you will agree.

Did not pre book accommodation at St Ives, however we checked on arrival and were pleasantly surprised. An ocean view room upgrade really was great. The room was recently refurbished. The room rate included dinner and breakfast which were above expectations. The hotel was a little bit noisy from the hallways outside the room.

We have just returned from a shearings holiday to this hotel. We were happy with everything except the room we were so cold in it we asked for more blankets, there is no radiator in the bathroom and the one in the bedroom was nt enough to warm it up we were on a outside wall and no double glazing . We both came back with a bad cold.

Room Tip: Cant say about anyothers but dont have room 100 if you want to be warm

I am surprised to read that this room was not heated enough for you as this room has a double glazed window. All rooms have duvets however blankets are available on request as you say.
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the other aspects of the holiday and maybe you will visit again when the weather turns warmer.
