Friendly staff. Breakfast served in the bar was freshly cooked and sufficient. Neither street nor onsite parking available. We spent some time looking for suitable parking. Would suggest using the 'pay and display' Stennack car park which is no more than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Room was suitable for a short stay - we stayed one night.

My wife and I stayed in the Queens Hotel for two nights as we travelled through Cornwall, and chose the hotel as it had good reviews on TripAdvisor.

Due to the season and the sunny weather St Ives was very busy and it was virtually impossible to get parking anywhere near the town. Eventually we settled for leaving the car some distance away on the edge of town, and then driving back in later to collect luggage after we'd checked in. The hotel itself is in an ideal location and is perfectly placed for getting around the town. The pub downstairs was quiet in the mid-afternoon and the chap who showed us to the room was polite and courteous.

The room itself was well decorated, but quite dark and dingy, with the only view out of the window completely eclipsed by the adjacent buildings. The bed was uncomfortable, and we could feel the springs in what must have been a cheap and/or old mattress. The bathroom was sufficient and as clean as would be expected.

In the early evening we managed to get a cherished spot on the train station car park (long stay) though had to queue for a while to obtain a space. This meant we were only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Though this obviously wasn't the hotel's fault, the lack of parking may be a consideration for some.

I was annoyed more than once by the attitude and rudeness of the staff who worked behind the bar in the evening and it typified the main problem with the Queens - that it is a pub first and a hotel second. I can understand the other issues we had with the room, but there is no excuse for making people feel unwelcome in a hotel, no matter the reason.

Due to the heat we had the window open, but were awoken in the night by what sounded like a mass migration of seagulls at around 4am on both mornings. There really are no words to describe the extended Hitchcockian wailing of hundreds of shrieking gulls but I would challenge anyone to sleep through it. This and the aforementioned mattress conspired to make two nights of fitful sleeping for us both. Again, the hotel shouldn't be blamed for the birds, and I'm sure it must be a common issue in St Ives.

The breakfast, served in the bar from 0830, was excellent and it should be said that the morning staff were friendly. There was a good choice of cereal, and touches like the muesli (homemade) and marmalade were excellent, as was the full English breakfast.

So the location is perfect if you can cope with the parking, and the room and breakfasts are very good. But when we consider that this was by far the most expensive place we have stayed on our Cornwall trip, yet had by far the worst service, it would be unfair to give it more than three stars here.

We arrived before 2 but were given the choice to leave our baggage while we wondered around St Ives. Polite staff showed us to our room and made us feel welcome. Room 6 isn't the biggest of rooms but was very bright and well decorated. Small en-suite but modern fixtures and a nice powerful shower. Very impressed with the cleanliness on the room and bathroom. Slight problem with the drainage in the shower. Had to turn the shower off halfway through to avoid it overflowing. We did inform the staff of this though so hopefully it will be rectified. Very comfy bed, nice feather pillows and duvet. Our sleep was disturbed by inconsiderate drinkers wandering home, until 3am, but we did expect some noise due to the location. I would suggest staying in the back of the hotel if you wanted an early night and undisturbed sleep.
Breakfast was served in the bar. Choice of cereal, fruit salad and juice to help yourself to. I would highly recommend trying the home made muesli! Cooked breakfast looks a little small, but the quality and taste of the ingredients makes up for it.
We decided to have our evening meal there. Service was good, very friendly and attentive bar staff. I was disappointed by the lack of veggy options, but that seems to be a common theme by the coast! My partner however enjoyed the lamb dish. The ingredients were again good quality and freshly cooked.

Room Tip: Some noise from late night drinkers, even on the top floor. I would suggest asking for a room at the...

Right in the middle of where you want to be, we stayed here as a family and found it ideal! The staff were really friendly and helpful and couldn't have done more! The breakfasts were amazing and very flexible! The rooms are really light, great windows, comfy beds, clean and fresh with loads of space! The only draw back to staying here is the parking but this is no different from anywhere else in the town or near the seaside! It's only a short walk to the sea front and beaches! Absolutely made the first leg of our holiday totally awesome!

We stayed in the Queen's Head for two days in St Ives. Everyone who was there was friendly and helpful and we had a nice room near the top. They also provided a very powerful fan which was essential on the hot nights. It's location is very convenient. The food (both breakfast and evening meals) were very good and tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. Well done all.

My wife and I spent a lovely weekend in St. Ives and stayed at the Queens Hotel. It's ideally located for the beach, and short walks to the Tate and sculpture garden. There is a parking lot a very short walk from the hotel. Our room on the top floor was quiet, clean, and very nicely decorated. We had a fantastic breakfast in the pub each morning (well cooked full English) and enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast. Good cornish ales on tap. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it for a weekend in beautiful St. Ives.

Room Tip: Room seven on top floor is lovely, with a a little seating area and a big loo. You can even see the...

Stayed for one night in July. I would say that its great value, clean but the rooms over the bar do not have any "wow" factor. Comfortable and clean, although the shower is a bit small! Lovely bar with a good choice of local ales and ciders - "The Rattler" was a particular favourite of my wife!. Breakfast was really nice - freshly cooked with a fresh coffee. For those driving to St Ives I would recommend parking at the Railway station - its about as close as you can get, about 5 minutes away
