Location is very handy, next to the bus station, a short walk from the train station and overlooking the pretty roofs and (from the back) the town harbour of St Ives. The walk into town is very short and nicely downhill going, but steeply uphill on the return journey. The accommodation is not suitable if you're not able to negotiate steps and stairs, but otherwise it's perfectly located to make the most of St Ives without a vehicle and to easily catch a bus or train if you want to explore further afield.
Sandy and Keith are the owners of this B & B and are very welcoming and extremely helpful in assisting to make the most of the time in this beautiful part of England. They are both very knowledgeable about the area.
Accommodation is neat and very clean. Our twin-bedded room overlooking the sea and harbour, was very comfortable and had an ensuite shower and toilet, a service tray with tea/coffee, etc, hairdryer and hand and bath towels. The TV set was dated by modern standards, but who wants to stay in watching TV when the whole of St Ives is on the doorstep?
Carparking is always at at a premium in St Ives but The Regent has spaces either at the far end of the station car-park or in the tiny private carpark below the hotel.
The breakfasts are second to none! Sandy quietly and efficiently 'waits on' whilst Keith is busy in the kitchen. Various choices of teas and freshly made coffee, fresh fruit, an abundance of yoghurts, cereals, juices and fresh crisp toast, complement yet another abundance of choices for the main part of the meal. Smoked salmon, scrambled egg, smoked haddock, waffles, plus all the 'usual' full English breakfast components are available and freshly prepared to order.
We have returned to The Regent time and time again and are reluctant to let people into the secret of our little gem. The premises don't have 'street appeal' but once inside and once having tried the breakfasts, and seen the views from the dining room, it remains a firm favourite for many.
