“A gem of a find in St Ives”
Reviewed 28 June 2010

I have stayed in St Ives on holiday and on business dozens of times in a variety of accommodation; from the smartest hotels to more modest B&Bs and self catering. The Regent has been a real find. Unprepossessing from the outside, don't let that fool you. This small hotel is incredibly well run and maintained. The rooms are spotless, beds comfortable and the views across the harbour outstanding. The breakfast/sitting room is bright and welcoming and again has stunning views from the picture window....and the breakfast....well just wonderful. From the 'full Cornish' through to smoked haddock, omlettes, bacon sandwiches, toasted sandwiches as well as plenty of healthy options of fresh juices, yoghurts, fresh fruits, dried fruits steeped in elderflower juice and organic cereals....this place is such good value for money. It is also so conveniently situated for the town, beaches and train and bus stations. I was here on business and my sister came with me for the break, and we shall certainly be booking into the Regent again.

Fantastic views over St Ives Harbour. Well place for visiting all the attractions of the town. No lifts but not really hard to get to the top floor - you are on holiday - no rush! The room was comfortable, light and in possession of one of the best views we have ever enjoyed in a hotel room. No need for pictures on the wall! Hard to tear yourself away from the view. Very friendly service and excellent cooked breakfasts make this a place we would certainly want to come back to.

we stayed at this hotel for four nights in april and could not say a bad word about the place.Although the room was on the smallish side the view more than made up for it and it was absolutely spotless. The breakfasts were varied in choice, enough to cater for all needs and the quality of the cooked meals was superb, especially the fish. The owners were very friendly ,always smiling and were never short of either a friendly chat or the benefit of their wealth of local knowledge. The location was good with just a short stroll to the town centre and harbour, and had the added bonus of parking facilities included.St ives is a picturesque location and has some very good pubs and restaraunts to compliment all the many quaint shops art galleries and other places of interest, not to mention the beaches and numerous pleasant walks which make it an ideal tourist attraction.

Having to carry our bags up two flights of 2 foot wide stairways was a bad start. If you plan to visit make sure you are fit. The view from our top floor room was absolutely stunning I have to admit. But the room was tiny and the bed was a nightmare. It is advertised as a hotel but it's really just a guest house charging hotel prices. There was no bar. The message in the room said you cannot eat food or drink but they don't sell any themselves so it leaves you stuck. Felt the hosts could have made more effort and really feel we were overcharged. Should be advertised as guest house for the fit and able with lovely views!

I've been in The Regent Hotel in april 2009 with a friend. I really want to recommend it to everyone who is looking for a affordable and clean hotel at a perfect location of St Ives! The Regent Hotel is a small one, but peaceful with very friendly owners. We've been there for 5 nights but if we would stay for a longer period, it wouldn't be a problem (there was nothing what could cause irritating or something, and I think that's important). Maybe not so useful for big families or something because the capacity. Oh, and the breakfasts were REALLY delicious! I've never had such breakfasts in my life before! (Maybe we miss some skills in Holland ;) ). They cook it by themselves :) The location is great as well, because it's next to the bus stop and the train station and still close to the "centre" of St Ives! It took maybe about 2 minutes to walk through the beautiful small streets to the shops, restaurants, beaches, tourist information, etc. In short: fantastic for couples or a few friends (and walkers and so on) because the small capacity. And last but not least: mind the seagulls! ;)

We have stayed at the Regent Hotel many times over the years. Keith and Sandi are welcoming hosts, provide quality accomodation and breakfasts. The location is first rate and the option of parking either behind the hotel or on the car park by the station is a real bonus.
