My husband and I visited Sandbank Holidays in June and loved it. We were given a lovely welcome and shown into our apartment, which was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could possibly need. We had our own little garden which was ideal for the dog, and the view of the gardens was lovely.
The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. Even the beds were made up for us, and there was lots of info on local attractions etc. It's a perfect spot whether you're into walking along the stunning local beach at Gwithian, or exploring old Cornish towns such as St. Ives.
We were told that there would be a few changes made over the winter, so we can't wait to return this year.

My wife and I plus one bouncy Doberman, stayed in one of the ground floor apartments at the beginning of September 2009.

On arrival we where warmly welcomed by the owners Chris and Julie who showed us where everything was and where to walk the dog. The apartment was clean and well equipped. The owner is carrying out a refurbishment program over 2009/2010, our apartment had already been upgraded with a new flat screen television with Digital channels, also new oven and kitchen equipment.

Cornwall is damp this time of year and we where advised not to close the top windows. The owner informed us that he was replacing all the windows this spring so as to eliminate any problems, this will help people not wanting to leave the top windows open.
The local area is an official area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’ and includes The Towans, St Ives Bay and beaches, and Godrevy Lighthouse. The Towans are protected and there are numerous birds and animals. Because it is protected there are rare lizards and the occasional snake. There are Adders on the Towans so dog owners should be watchful.

For those not wishing to cook there is a good selection of restaurants and takeaway places in nearby Hayle. Also you can walk to Gwithian where the Red River Inn offers good food and a fine selection of Ale. The landlords Aeron and Sal are very hospitable (unlike some Cornish pubs) so we recommend walking rather than driving!

All in all a very enjoyable week, the dog would defiantly give it 10/10 and I should imagine when all the improvements are completed this spring we would change our 9/10 to 10/10

We booked at Sandbanks for 1 weeks s/c because it looked ideal for 2 adults, 1 baby and our family dog. It states that the apartments are spotless and ideally located for exporing the surrounding area.

Firstly the apartment was clean as stated but we found it to be quite dated. It says in the brochure that these were modenised when the current owner took over. There is no central heating (just a smelly electric heater) and the windows are single paned and always dripping with condensation. The rooms, our clothes and the bed always felt damp....not good when you've got a baby. We were told that this was to do with the cornish air???. The shower was also a bit disappointing with no pressure and the bathroom was always cold . You can hire towels for £1 each when you get there which we thought would save on luggage, but again these had seen better days. . To obtain your keys there is no proper reception area, you just ring a bell at the court yard entrance and someone eventually comes out to see you. The rest of the accomadation was OK.

The surrounding area, firstly turning out of the complex on to the road is a bit of a death trap as you do not have a clear view left or right, just a smashed mirror which didn't really help. A handy tip is to drive in to the caravan park next door and come out of that entrance which gives a much better view of the road. We wrongly thought that we where quite close to the beach (our fault) but you have a 30mins walk through quite hilly sand dunes (with snakes) and then a very steep walk down steps which eventully gets you on to the beach.

We didn't stay the full week as we couldn't sand another night in the damp bed and when we asked what we should do with our keys as we intended to leave early the next morning we were told to "just push them through the letter box". They did not ask why we were leaving early.
