We arranged another walking holiday with HF again this year, we intended to meet with friends we'd met from last year. We booked Chy Morvah in St Ives. After a 6hr drive to the house we were welcomed by Jen & Jamie who were great hosts.

We were allocated a large family room, the room was BIG, it could have slept 6 comfortably. The room located on the ground floor had only 3 issues for us, although none of them really spoilt it for us,
1. It was a ground floor room but had no net curtains, so the curtains needed drawing in the day if showering or using the toilet.
2. The bathroom was massive, enough room for a separate bath & shower, but only a small shower cubicle not big enough to turn around in with the door closed.
3. The television was a 15", it was just so small for the size of room we had, nothing could be seen unless you sat right in front of it.

We didn't really use the tv as we were walking most days but we liked to catch up on the Olympic highlights before sleeping. These three points were brought to the attention of Jamie who agreed and said things would be changed by next year.

On a lighter note the standards of cleanliness was excellent, the staff were super friendly especially Algridas the Lithuanian waiter & Bruce Gumbo the barman, he has an expert knowledge of the beers & ciders he sells in the bar. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was great, lots of variety and very good value for money. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Room Tip: All rooms are good with HF in our experience, the only tip would be book with HF

Chy Morvah is one of about 20 hotels owned by the HF Holidays in the UK. It caters to walkers/hikers; mostly over age 50. Our recent four night stay at the one in St. Ives Cornwall was the sixth HF "rambling" vacation my wife and I have taken in recent years. Believe us. Chy Morvah provides the best value for this type of break one can imagine. Three solid meals a day, a good cash bar, superb rooms for a small upgrade, Atlantic views, attentive staff and expertly guided walks along the Cornish coast; all for the cost of an average hotel room in most UK cities. We recommend the HF Holidays group generally and Chy Morvah in particular. Well done to the team there.

Room Tip: Choose the "premium" option when booking. It is only about 15percent more and worth every...

My wife and I stayed at Chy Morvah as part of an HF Holidays Cornish coast hiking trip. Jamie and Jen made us feel welcome when we walked in the door. They have trained their staff well. Everyone had a very positive attitude and seemed to really enjoy working there. The meals were included in the price and breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all very well prepared with a good choice of menu options. The rooms are not fancy, yet they are very comfortable. We slept well after hiking all day. The washer, dryer, and drying room also came in very handy. The grounds are very well kept and the pool looks inviting (the weather unfortunately did not permit swimming or sunbathing this time around). HF Holidays does an outstanding job with houses like Chy Morvah, well planned hikes, and top notch food and drink. It is the best value for money hiking holiday package available. We will definitely be returning.

Excellant holiday here with group of walkers. Staff were brillant, nothing too much trouble, even the English ones. Meals were fine with good choice, but bar poorly stocked. Quite a steep walk to town but then the views over the bay were great.
Now have flat screen TVs in rooms, quite a change for HF.

I went on an HF holiday to Chy Morvah.
The hotel is very pleasant, the staff great and efficient. The manager Jamie and his wife are very helpful and run the place perfectly.
I really enjoyed the food, which is good and varied.
My congratulations too to the leaders of the walks, who were friendly and knowledgable.
A very good holiday.

Now in their 2nd year, the Manager Jamie and his wife Jen, have made some improvements: there's a very pleasant wooden deck outside with chairs and tables, looking onto the pool. Rooms now have TV. There is also the possibility to attend a performance at the Minack Theatre, built out of the cliff and looking over the sea. Organised by the hotel, the price includes transport, good seats, and enormous fleece blankets to keep you warm. Even on a chilly, windy evening, it was amazing.

We went on an HF Holiday to the Chy Morvah house in St Ives. The views were extraordinary, the guided walks excellent, and the food was suburb. If you want to be treated like reality, taking an all inclusive HF Holiday is the way to go . This is our third HF Holiday, ST Ives does have great coastal walks and the house is wonderful. The staff was so attentive to our needs and the dinners (and breakfast and lunch) were 5 stars!

Room Tip: Any HF Holiday is wonderful
