After a desperate search for a room in St Ives we stumbled across Halwell and Eleanor & her husband could not have been more welcoming. The house is lovely, with a beautiful garden which we were invited to use. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the bed one of the most comfortable I have slept in. Halwell is only a five minute walk from the Lelant train stop at which you can jump onto the train going straight into St Ives. As a result you get all the convenience of being close to St Ives without having to battle through masses of people and fight for a parking space! Breakfast was gorgeous, all cooked to order and delicious. Recommended.

Room Tip: we stayed on the ground floor, first room on the left - I think this is room 1.

We chose Halwell Lodge for our first visit to Cornwall because we liked the look of this B&B from the website, and because it is so well placed for trips to St Ives and other delights towards Land's End. For the first time, we left the car at home and having arrived by rail, we travelled locally by bus (mostly the super open top 300) and the St Erth - St Ives Scenic Railway. Halwell is just a few minutes from the bus stop on Fore Street, and also close to Lelant Saltings train station.
Our hosts were very welcoming, paying attention to small details which made our stay very special. Our room was beautifully clean and freshly decorated, with views across the tidal Hale Estuary. We had the most comfortable bed - the best 4 nights' sleep ever. Breakfast was delicious with many choices. Whatever you chose, don't miss the fresh fruit salad and we also recommend a home made evening meal !

Thank you so much for your very kind words! We are delighted that you had the opportunity to see Cornwall at its best. The weather has deteriorated for the moment but hopefully will improve soon allowing us to take that 'open top' bus ride! Best wishes Eleanor and Peter

We had a lovely impromptu one night stay at Halwell lodge. Our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was sublime. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very tastefully furnished with beautiful fresh tulips in the room. The bed was the best that we have ever slept in and we also had use of the conservatory which made for a very pleasant sunny reading spot (even magazines were supplied) A big plus for this b and b (particularly for anywhere near St Ives) is the off street parking. If anyone is contemplating driving into St Ives much better to park and ride.

Room Tip: We had the garden view room and loved it

This was our 5th visit to stay at Halwell Lodge. It is located alongside the main road to St Ives in the village of Lelant. A short walk from the frequently passing train service to St Ives and from the beautiful, quiet Porthkidney Sands.
Julie and Matt are the perfect hosts. Friendly and chatty. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean and fresh drink facilities with chocolate bar are replaced daily.
The breakfasts set you up for the day. Porridge, full English, toast, cereals, yoghourt etc etc.
They will also prepare an evening meal if given enough notice.
Flat screen TV, and WiFi in each room.

My wife Carole and I had booked a holiday cottage in Porthleven but due to an oversight arrived one day early!! HELP....we need a B&B for tonight!! Having earlier driven through Lelant on our way to St Ives Carole remarked that there was a vacancy at Halwell Lodge, we returned to Lelant and drove up to the front door. Carole was greeted by Matt, (little did he know that he was to become our saviour that day!), I sat in the car whilst whilst Carole explained our plight, a nod from Matt indicated to me that a room was available, indeed Carole disappeared inside and returned to the car to grab both me and the bags with a big smile upon her face. The room was just what we needed, indeed the bed, a victorian style was exactly like ours at home, how odd, perhaps fate played more than a part when Carole was drawn to Matt and Julies front door that crazy day! After offloading the luggage and swift spruce up we headed to Blas Burgers in St Ives for our evening meal. Back at Halwell Lodge a comfortable night's sleep ensued. Next morning, showered and fresh we tucked in to our breakfast which we'd chosen the night before, wonderful! We'd found a gem and are hoping to visit later in the year with friend's for Carole's birthday. Bye the way Matt, Porthkidney beach is beautiful and was well worth the visit.....Matt and Julie, your home is beautiful, thank you for taking us in. Neil & Carole Welsh, North Somerset

We stayed at Halwell lodge for just one night as we were meeting our son at Lands End after his John O Groats to Lands End cycle, perfectly placed just outside St Ives and central to most popular destinations, although not set in the countryside our room, (2) did overlook the garden, there is also plenty of parking.
Our room had a good quality bed, was extremely comfortable with lovely linens, decorated in neutral tones and very clean, loved the assortment of fair trade teas on offer in the room.
Breakfast was perfection, you fill in a form the night before with your order (excellent idea) we had slow cooked porridge on the AGA which was amazing, full English Breakfast which was also first class and full of flavour, selection of fresh fruits, muesli, cereals etc, all served in the beautiful white breakfast room which was immaculate and comfortable, I would thoroughly recommend to anyone.
Julie and Matt thank you once again for a lovely stay.

I really enjoy spending my holidays in Cornwall, and Halwell Lodge is the perfect holiday accommodation for a relaxing, intimate, cosy holiday in Cornwall. We are always met with a very warm welcome, as both Matt and Julie are friendly, helpful hosts. The rooms are beautiful and the food is tasty, and not too heavy.

Halwell is a comfortable distance from St Ives, with a variety of lovely walks on the door step. We enjoy using the train, or bikes and going for a walk to the beach (which is also very close) during our visit. The room we stayed in last had a view of the estuary, which was really nice.

I would recommend Halwell to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, staying with laid-back people, who have a good knowledge of the area and offer a very good service. 5 stars all round.

Room Tip: Ask fr the Blue Room, it over looks the estuary, is very comfortable and spacious!
