“Gorgeous B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

From the second we arrived, Peter and Eleanor made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and the memory foam bed was very comfortable. I slept like a baby! Delicious breakfasts cooked in the Aga. Peter also recommended a great restaurant in St Ives which we probably wouldn't have found without his advice. All in all very good and we would definitely return.

My partner and I shared a long weekend break in Halwell Lodge over February half term. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We were privileged to be the only guests on our first night. Bespoke cooked breakfasts on request as well as a delightfully tummy-filling selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, cafetiere coffee, pots of tea, vegan-friendly, croissants, pancakes crumpets and toast.

Halwell Lodge is understated luxury from its engaging hosts to its beautifully fresh and stylish decor. Fresh white 100% egyptian cotton sheets, cosy duvet and extra pillows. Fresh pink tulips on the table in the dining room. They even arranged for a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers (secretly organised by my partner for St Valentine's Day).

The location is perfect for a breezy wander down to Hayle Estuary (famed for its range of wildlife, including pairs of herons and wading birds), as well as a short car drive to St Ives. We found Halwell Lodge to be the most ideal relaxing resting point in between a busy schedule of coastal walks all around from Falmouth to St Ives.

We visited an incredibly beautiful Cornish coastline, with breezy beach walking and rocky rambling from Penzance, St Michael's Mount, Marazion, Land's End, the Lizard (saw a real seal), Porthcurno to Mousehole and more besides.

Staying at Halwell Lodge made us feel like we were in heaven. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Room 2 is beautiful - with gorgeous views of the Estuary and extensive garden. If you're lucky y...

Cosy, warm and clean and hosted by two of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Beautiful conservatory and lawn to enjoy in the summer. Situated round the corner from the train into the heart of St Ives. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and friendly stay in a beautiful place. Thanks Eleanor and Peter!!

We stayed at Halwell Lodge over New Year's. It was everything that previous reviews mentioned and more! The beds were soft, breakfast was heaven and the carpet so thick...The owners are friendly, helpful with every query and discreet. They gave us great advice where to eat and to visit. We will be returning very soon!

An excellent B & B with all the comforts of home. Peter and Eleanor are fine hosts and whoever cooks the breakfast they do a good job. The room we stayed in was well decorated with tea and coffee supplied together with biscuits. Good quality linen and towels show attention to detail. We would recommend Halwell Lodge to anyone who is looking for a a good quality well cared for B&B with bus and train links to St Ives.

This was one of the best B&B's we have stayed at. After arriving late (2200) following a long drive from London on a Thursday night, we were welcomed by Peter. Our room was perfect with lamps on, curtains shut and heating on (Just like going home to mum & dad's). The following morning we were greeted with a great breakfast after a good nights sleep (comfy bed and pillows as well as good blinds to block out light). Peter was amazing - giving us tips on where to visit and advice on pubs, food and sights. Perfect location for driving (plenty of parking) as well as getting the train into St Ives (only 5 min stroll to station). Our room was immaculate and little touches like soft fluffy towels is most likely down to Eleanor! They are both so friendly and we will most positively be back to visit. Thanks for having us! Mark & Lou
