“Blissfully Gooooood!”
Reviewed 31 October 2011

If you want somewhere that you can truly and totally relax, enjoy great food, with a view to die for. The you would be very hard pressed to find somewhere better than the Pedn Olva. I've stayed in the Wescot room several times, and I am still blown away by the bright turquoise seaview that fills the whole window that greats you when you open the door to your room. With the smell of the salty air and the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks below your window. Only to be broken by the distant calls of the gulls. The staff are very friendly and helpful, without being in your face all the time. The local award winning local real ales are great, and I don't normally drink real ale. The breakfast is hot, fresh and of very good quality, from local produce. Whether you care to enjoy it from the terrace or from within the breakfast room, the view along the beach towards Carbis Bay is more than I could ask for.

No it's not the cheapest place around, but certainly worth the money, and they do some GREAT out of season deals too.

Enjoy!

Room Tip: Spoilt for choice for sea views! Grab the one with the bath by the window, it's on their website...

We originally had planned to stay only one night at the Pedn Olva but liked it so much that we changed our plans to stay another two.
So rare to find a UK hotel that has a great location, stunning views and good service - all the staff were excellent.
If I was being picky I'd say the room was a bit on the small side but the views more than made up for it.

Room Tip: Choose room 1 for the sound of the sea slapping against the rocks.

I have never stayed at Pedn Olva Hotel but me and my family always go in for drinks and sometimes lunch or dinner and the food is always excellent. The views are brilliant. The staff have always been polite and helpful. The hotel always looks clean and tidy. Pedn Olva is usually the first place me and my family visit as soon as we arrive in St Ives.

We stayed at the Pedn Olva Hotel in September 2010, and I guess this review is quite overdue! However, we have very fond memories of our stay :)
The hotel has a fantastic location in St Ives, on the rocks with sweeping views of the village across the sea. Wonderful sunsets.

Our room did not have a balcony, which would have been the perfect addition! The room itself was rather tiny and the shower cubicle *very* small. But this is the UK, where one pays premium rates for small confined spaces. The breakfast was excellent and we especially enjoyed the vegetarian options which the chef prepared for us (wholesome, hearty and fresh farm food!).

The location was ideal; within walking distance to the beaches and villages. We had travelled to St Ives by car, and there is a parking lot nearby which the hotel provides parking coupons for. Note, we could not figure out if there was an outside parking at the hotel, so it was a bit of a schelp with the luggage.

St Ives is a quaint little village on the outskirts of Cornwall, and the Pedn Olva Hotel offers the perfect base for its visitors :)

Room Tip: Room with a balcony would be nice!

thank you to all the staff at the Pedn Olva Hotel, we stayed here last night, with 2 other couples, whilst we attended a wedding in St Ives, thank goodness we stayed here rather than at the wedding venue,(!) The staff were all polite and helpful, rooms were spotless and what a view..! we had room 27, beautiful. breakfast was brilliant, again nothing too much trouble. I would definately recommend staying here, in fact booked another night in November. In my opinion it is the best and only place to stay in St.Ives. special thanks to Jamie who sorted our rooms and parking spaces for us, what a gem. XXX If I could rate this higher than 5 out of 5 I would. brilliant.!

Room Tip: all rooms have a sea view, so you can't go wrong.

we spent an evenning in the bar area. the views and atmosphere are suberb! apparently we were too noisy. as a group of professionals we would have adjusted our noise levels if asked!! we were spoken to in an appalling way by a female staff member. made us feel very unwelcome! very very poor. a real shame

Stayed at this hotel many time through my childhood up through to adulthood.
Staff are very friendly and nothing is a problem. The rooms and communcal areas are just what you expect. Cared for and tidy, whether its coffee or something stronger its a place you must visit whether its to pop in for refreshments or to stay.
The view across the bay to St Ives harbour, St Nicholas Chapel is fabulous and through the seasons the views change but whether is sunny, snowing or a storm the views are to die for.

Each room has its own style and its isnt a huge establishment so you feel very welcomed and personal. If you stay, you wont be disappointed.

Although the hotel has the views and is based high up you still can walk without much trouble from town level however it is close to the car park, station and bus station so anyone should just visit!!!

Have never had a problem in all the years of visiting, thats either sheer luck or just because The Pedn Olva is simply wonderful!!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a sea view. No matter which you get you will be able to see but the higher you...
